Mother of Saint Rupert. Her husband was a pagan Frankish nobleman. After his death she raised their son Rupert as a Christian. They used their wealth to found churches and hospices for the poor near Bingen which is in the Rhineland in Germany. Saint Rupert died at age 20 of a fever in 732. Saint Bertha died in 757. The hill on which they lived became known as Rupertsburg, a popular site of pilgrimage during the Middle Ages.
