News that I missed, courtesy of The Babylon Bee:
ATLANTA, GA—Streaming service CNN+ blew away all expectations by lasting nearly three weeks before its demise was announced by Warner Bros. Discovery this morning.
Analysts had expected the service to last no longer than about thirteen hours, so CNN is calling the full three-week lifespan of the paid streaming platform “performance beyond our wildest dreams.” Some more optimistic projections had expected the service to last through its first weekend, but regardless, no one thought the service would last as long as it did.
Primary among the factors that led analysts to this conclusion is that people won’t even watch regular CNN at an airport for free, so getting them to watch a paid version seemed like a long shot. Also, many in the industry were concerned that CNN Plus programming was “painful to watch and barely more enjoyable than a root canal,” lowering expectations for the streaming service.
“Rest in power, CNN Plus,” said Brian Stelter, a tear in his eye. “We hardly knew you. Three weeks sounds like a long time for a streaming service, but in reality, it’s just flown by. I remember the time a few weeks ago when we launched. It seems like just yesterday. But it wasn’t. It was, like, 20 days ago.”
“Time just flies by.”
Go here to read the rest. CNN+ averaged fewer viewers than this blog has had on its best days. CNN made the mistake of thinking it is popular with a large audience, and that they could charge for the privilege of listening to propaganda disguised as news. Surprise! CNN is only one of the institutions in the modern world that exist only through sheer inertia. Lots of walking dead entities that have far outlived any reason for them to continue.
The K-Mart of news networks 🙂
I hate a lie.
The left/legacy media is 99% lies and the rest is error.
Same experience when they try to put up liberal talk radio vs. conservative talk radio. No one listens.
Garbage people. Garbage policies. All lies all the time.
In recent years, what they had going for them was the late Anthony Bourdain, full stop. Anderson Cooper was a satisfactory facsimile of a serious person at one time, no more. They might try firing everyone responsible for editorial content, hiring new people, and rebranding. Were they to do it right, they’d have to find people of integrity who are working in the news business or can be trained with dispatch. Fat chance of that.
The K-Mart of news networks
K-Mart in its day had a certain mass constituency to which it appealed. The news networks (bar Fox) seemed to have adopted the business model of appealing to street-level Democrats who want emotional validation and never mind if the content is shite. Bezos did this too with The Washington Post. I think PBS and NPR may still adhere to the older model of framing every discussion in ways that limit the injury their reportage might do to the Democratic Party, but I haven’t tuned in in a while.
While we’re at it, The Washington Post lies their tuchus off and Taylor Lorenz plays DARVO cards.

The original free product is coasting to a stop. CNN+ is like the Friends spinoff “Joey”, but behind a paywall.
Today in America it’s precisely like situation in the Kurt Russell “Wyatt Earp” movie wherein Doc Holliday/Val Kilmer Says, “It’s not revenge he’s [we’re] after, it’s a reckoning!”
And, the Dems know it.
Meanwhile, Musk is attempting to save free speech. And, all the commies are fouling themselves.
I’ve been banned from three so-called econ profs’ sites for making comments like this I saw at “The Daily Gouge.” “God created man and woman . Democrats created all the others.” To be fair, that took less time and effort than creating millions of fake votes in 2020.
Like Jack Nicholson in the movie said, “They can’t handle the truth!”
Why would you post those things on an econ platform?
Under Ted Turner, CNN could be irritating but not a political tool. Anything worthwhile that he put into the network is long since gone.

Anderson Cooper landed a position at CNN during the but end of the Turner era. His willingness to work for Zucker year in and year out casts a retrospective shadow on his whole career.
Pinky,
As you can observe, I have way too much time on my hands.
I don’t post that on the fake econ blogs.
That’s for those of us that aren’t huge TDS sufferers and not proponents of lefty economics myths and conspiracy theories about markets, aka, post-modern university econ profs.
Plus, they annoy me by treating everybody as if they were one of their 13th graders, need grades, and slop up all their hot, steaming lies about the economy and markets.
The Biden Touch.
Here’s the rub. They have to blame everything on Putin [before that transitory, and America is booming, and supply chain, and corporate greed, Trump – when Klain et al reversed everything he did, etc.] and omit the horrid stuff Biden’s handlers and the Fed did since day one January 2021. Posting the increase in Fed total assets since Jan 2012, too long zero rates, and the rise in the national debt really sets them off.
The harsh stuff would be in response to other commenters with their go-to TDS libels because they have nothing but rotten stuff coming out of the Biden economy.
Here’s a factual comment on today’s stock market sell-off which will not make it online – USA aggregate stock values are down 26%, $6.24 trillion, from high on February 2, 2022,
Maybe stating, “Is this the end of the Fed put?” [See Edward Robinson at the end of the movie “Little Caesar.] is verboten.
Also, knowing that it won’t go on, I finished it with “Don’t Say Gas.”
And, I have way too much time on my hands.
