Thank you Tucker for calling out deep-pocketed Republicans, including Donald Trump, who’ve not stepped up to help these Americans trapped in a vengeful legal system in Washington DC https://t.co/gTIx4fmjUD

Trump was preferable to Clinton and preferable to Biden. That does not mean we should ignore hard facts about the man, and one of those facts is that he immediately turned his back on his January 6 supporters. He now mentions them in speeches but he hasn’t raised a little finger to help those facing criminal charges. He could easily lead a fund raising campaign to ensure that each of the Defendants has first class counsel.
Politically his abandonment of these supporters is understandable, morally, except for those few who are accused of assaults, it is beneath contempt. All men are flawed and sinners, but Trump is more flawed, and gifted in some ways, than most.
“He could easily lead a fund raising campaign to ensure that each of the Defendants has first class counsel.”
He could easily pay for first class counsel himself.
I blame Trump and others here (including myself). One demurral I have is that the social dynamics of the legal profession being what it is, capable lawyers may simply be unavailable to these people. Remember the stories ca. 2003 about BigLaw associates knocking each other over to donate time to the causes of Guantanamo detainees? Should have been happening in these cases. Note also, the bench colludes with prosecutors in these cases.
Well said, Ezabelle and Art. And meanwhile, the New York Times, once a newspaper, opines that Americans are not faced with the same kind of suppression of speech that is happening in Russia. The world they live in is not real.
