ACOG’s  Come a Long Way From “Baby”

In 1959,  the American College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists (ACOG) published The Manual of Standards in Obstetric–Gynecologic Practice.  It stated that abortions “cover only those cases where the death of the mother might reasonably be expected to result from natural causes, growing out of or aggravated by the pregnancy, unless the child is destroyed.”  This position was affirmed publicly on several occasions by ACOG’s board

After 1959, morphing and devolving from a group of medical professionals caring for patients, to servants of power, and then, today, to soldiers of evil, the members of the American College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists have recently published the ACOGSpeak dictates, the Newspeak for abortion.

In his scathing and accurate depiction of totalitarian tyranny in the novel 1984, George Orwell described how those seeking absolute power attempted to control thought itself by controlling language. His “Newspeak” was the new artificial language of the totalitarian superstate, Oceania. It is a controlled language with regimented grammar and restricted vocabulary intentionally promulgated and enforced to control an individual’s ability to think and to prevent the use of  “subversive” concepts such as personal identity, self-expression and free will. Concepts like this, which contradict the ruling party’s orthodoxy, are criminal thoughtcrime in 1984.

By imposing its totalitarian ACOGSpeak, the American College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists seeks to prevent the use of the subversive concepts such as “baby,” unborn child,” and “womb.”

In its ACOG Guide to Language and Abortion, published in March this year, all of these words and phrases are banned: “elective abortion,: “abortion provider,” “dismemberment ban,” “surgical abortion,” “late-term abortion,” “chemical abortion,” “heartbeat bill,” “fetal heartbeat,” “self-induced abortion,” “partial-birth abortion,” and “abortion on demand.” The ACOG dictates not only list the banned words, but also include the words and phrases that are to be used; for example, “uterus,” “embryo,” and “fetus.”

In ACOGSpeak there is no “dismemberment,” only “disarticulation.” In all of the ACOGSpeak lexicon, the words “human” and “human being” do not appear in any of the mandated words or phrases. Change a few words here and there and ACOGSpeak for the business of abortion serves the purposes of veterinary medicine.

ACOGSpeak does admit that something “begins” with a pregnancy; but implicitly it denies that a living human being dies in every abortion. Actually, nothing is terminated or killed in ACOGSpeak; but abortion does “end the medical condition of pregnancy.”

It would be laughable if it were not so supportive of death dealing that ACOG says its ACOGSpeak is simply for language that is “medically appropriate, clinically accurate, and without bias.” In its hubris and consummate hypocrisy, ACOG itself uses the biased terms “reproductive health,” “anti-choice rhetoric,” and “safe effective medical intervention.” Margaret Sanger, Joseph Goebbels,  and Josef Mengele are chortling somewhere.

ACOGSpeak eliminates the evidently clinically inaccurate word, “conception.” “Mother,” which was according to ACOG clinically accurate in 1959, is no longer “appropriate.

The most revealing truth about ACOGSpeak is that the entire language does not include the word “life.”

ACOGSpeak is today’s language of death.
