The black and white photos are grim, but the colorized version truly makes her face “come alive.” Pardon me for using those words – I couldn’t think of a better way of expressing myself.
May her dear soul and her family all rest in peace.
I thought the same thing Cathy although I do not normally like colorization of pictures or films. To me she represents what happens when evil is allowed to flourish and become mighty for a time. Inevitably the most innocent pay the price.
Maybe being a survivor. Announced on the radio a mayor of a small city has been captured and is being tortured by his Russian captors. Female civilians of any age are likely to be raped; young women could be kept as Comfort women for Russian troops. Much worse will happen to women found to be fighters. Young male children will be shot. Doubt any captives will live long enough to be sent to Siberia though Stalin sent 24000 Kossack POWs released by the Nazis to Siberia. Some families in tow. I hope I am wrong. Praying for peace.
In the 1930’s, Stalin murdered four million [one-in-eight] Ukrainians employing similar lies to 2020’s Putin’s. Many were starved and others transported to Siberia. Then, the Russia-worshipping [expletive-deleted] imbeciles say the Ukrainians deserve these worse than war crimes because some sided with the Germans in 1941 and for the great evil of maybe trying to be a sovereign nation in 2022.
