I don’t think the engineering profession has discredited itself yet.
AD, you have never worked in the Engineering Department of a Major Metropolitan Entity.

There are 1.67 million working engineers in this country. Of them 76,000 are civil engineers employed in the public sector.
To a fault, professional engineers:
1. Don’t care about money or fame that much, they love the work.
2. Are brutally honest.
3. Love sharing ideas and working together.
4. Understand that the physical world is merciless.
5. Have a low tolerance for bull$h1t.
6. Police their own.
That’s not to say that everyone with an engineering degree behaves that way. Those that don’t usually go into: sales, government or management.
They don’t actually do engineering.
