To my knowledge the same is true re: civil asset forfeiture at the federal level across the board. And it is true for most state levels. Or if there is an appeal, it is pretty much meaningless, practically. There is much tyranny and abuse of basic rights taking place under the guise of “administrative law.” Civil asset forfeiture—where agents of the state take your stuff just because they want to.

That is incorrect. You can go to the Tax Court without paying the tax first, or pay the tax first and go to the local District Court. Appeals are possible from both courts to the US Court of Appeals.
Tax litigation is rough however, and not for the faint of heart, especially when it comes to the cost of litigation.
But if you are American in America and participated in looting you have to pay taxes on those “goods”. Also applies to drug lords I suppose.

OT but of interest to IL residents: the feds indicted former House Speaker Mike Madigan on racketeering charges today. He was the most powerful Democrat in IL for years, equal to or greater than the governor, and no law ever passed without his say so (including the execrable Reproductive Health Act guaranteeing that IL will remain an abortion on demand haven if Roe is overturned). Couldnt have happened to a nicer guy….
