The forces of political correctness are trying to get the scalp of Kansas Commissioner of Education Randy Watson. In a speech he said “I had some cousins in California – they were petrified of tornadoes – they’d come visit us, you know, in the summer. They’re like ‘are we going to get killed by a tornado’ and I’d say ‘don’t worry about that, but you got to worry about the Indians raiding the town at any time.’ And they were they really thought that. You know, grow up in California, I guess you don’t know much of the history of Kansas.”
The remarks were obviously aimed at Californians clueless about Kansas. The forces of the perpetually offended promptly went on the warpath, pretending that this was an insult to Indians, aka the original colonists, and demanded that he be burned at the stake fired. Thus far that has not occurred. Cry bullies are a blight on our society. Perhaps we could exile them to reservations?
Were he fired, it would be because someone decided to fire him. Crybullies do what they do (1) because the person who does the firing is a contemptible jellyfish and (2) because the person who does the firing is a contemptible political operator whose disputes with the crybullies are a pantomime. If you had people of character in administrative positions, you would have no crybullies, because their endless discontent would be ignored.
Watson’s already ‘resigned’, his resignation’s been rejected (“unanimously”) by the state board of education, and they’ve ‘suspended’ him for 30 days like an errant youth. They all look like an insipid bunch. By the way, the state board of education is an elected body and six of the ten members are Republicans. Item #30205 in the file marked ‘Most Republican Politicians are Worthless’.
Come on, his comments are funny. Are they thick? Or just using it as a petty excuse to replace him?
Reminds me of that grandpa that breaks all PC protocol and let’s loose his opinions and jokes and the only people who laugh are the ones who have the sense to put grandpas comments into context. Grandpas like that are a truly breath of fresh air.

I don’t think fundamentalists (which, in the clinical sense, included Billy Graham) have the sort of petty and vicious power drives of vocational feminists. Soi-disant feminists are like the lesser sort of elementary school employee.
Really, Elementary school employees are the least feminists you can come across. They kinda have to be nurturing as it goes part in parcel with the job description. High corporates are the ones you need to watch out for. They’ve practised what they’ve preached.

Crybullies generally have two aims:
1.) They might hate the target (but never for the reason that they are complaining about) and perceive that he is either weak willed and will quit, or weakly supported and can get fired.
2.) They want to get clout for “bravely opposing bigotry.”
It never has anything to do with the supposed offense.
The fact that his resignation was rejected means that a deal was reached behind the scenes before he wrote his resignation. I’m guessing one of two things happened:
-Watson was asked to resign, and said “hell no.” Often that’s enough to stop the assault, but since the governor was one of the crybullies the board of education couldn’t let it go. So they came to some sort of compromise where Watson gets a suspension instead, possibly with off the record perks. If it went down this way than Watson probably put some sort of insurance in place or else they would have just voided their earlier agreement and said “Thanks for doing the right thing by resigning!”
-The second (and I think more likely) possibility is that this was all a sham from the start. Someone (probably the governor) wanted to get into the news for being a champion of anti-bigotry, or wanted to curry favor from American Indian voters. Someone needed to be the fall guy, but no one actually wanted to lose his job over this. Thus the deal to have a 30 day suspension. In this case, since the media definitely won’t be reporting on this in a month, expected Watson to get a nice promotion or bonus after his suspension is up.

A few times, I’ve been to Kansas on business. A small but very warlike tribe. And, I’m kind of a Kansas U basketball fan.

If he does, what difference will it make what the SCOTUS has decided on in December of 2021?

Agreed. Also, I offer this: even if it passes, (a) it doesn’t stop the Supremes from overturning Roe, (b) it’s not a Constitutional amendment, so in theory it could be struck down as a violation of the “substantive due process” rights of preborn babies, and (c) it could be, in the wake of an overruled Roe decision, struck down as a violation of the Tenth Amendment.
There would be other arguments as well, I assume. The key, of course, is for the Court to overturn Roe. Once that happens, any Federal effort to legislate a right to abortion short of amending the Conatitution will be legally questionable. If I, a retired guy who hasn’t practiced law in eight years, can come up with this many arguments in ten minutes, just think what real litigators could do. 😁
