PopeWatch: Worthless Bishops

Philip Lawler at Catholic Culture demonstrates how the Catholic Bishops of Quebec has raised being  mealy mouthed to an art form:

The Catholic bishops of Quebec are violating the religious freedom of their people. Who says so? They say so themselves!

Don’t take my word for it. Read the astonishing statement that the Quebec bishops released, responding to—and, however reluctantly, accepting—the rule that vaccination passports are required for entry into churches.

The bishops’ statement begins by welcoming the news that churches will be opened again. It then quotes the Vatican II Declaration on Religious Freedom, about the duty of the state to guard religious freedom. (As long as we’re talking about religious freedom, let’s ask the question: Why were the churches closed?)

In working toward this great reopening, the bishops report that they “insisted that people attending our assemblies be exempted from the requirement of the vaccination passport.” They “insisted,” they tell us. And yet…

The bishops’ insistence, the statement continues, reflects the fact that “many faithful believe that this requirement constitutes an intolerable discrimination that deprives unvaccinated people of their right to religious freedom.” Notice that word: intolerable. And while the bishops attribute this argument to “many faithful,” they conclude the paragraph with a simple affirmation of their own: “On this, we agree with them.”

So the vaccination passport is intolerable, it is a violation of religious freedom, the bishops insisted that it should not be imposed on churches. Can you guess how the next paragraph begins?

“However,…”

Go here to read the rest.  Other than their essential sacramental functions, the Church would be better off if most of our Bishops had never been born.

COVID Theorems:
1. The ease in which governments take freedom from it’s citizens in an “emergency” seems to be directly proportional to how it’s citizens had viewed “good” government having control over their lives before COVID.
(Australia, Canada, and States in the US being examples.)
2. The weakness of Bishops opposing the loss of religious freedoms seems directly proportional to their lack of preaching against the sexual de-evolution in society prior to COVID.

“However,” that word again, which too often means you’ve read our propaganda and now comes the truth.

So they effectively sold the removal of handcuffs for keyless ankle clamps?
In the back of my head comes this voice; who needs bishops, who needs bishops, who needs…?

Don’t worry. Jimmy Akin, Teresa Tomeo and Al Kresta will be on in a minute to explain it all away. Surely, those swishops are only doing God’s work and I, as a layman, have no right to be critical. Remember, according to the Bishop of Rome no less, and regardless of your own risk from COVID and regardless of the fact you can still spread COVID after getting the jab, getting that experimental mRNA drug that turns you into a genetically modified organism is your moral obligation. For Wales, no. For Quebec, yes!

Digging around, apparently vaccination passes are not required for funerals because of “humanitarian reasons.” While funerals are very important, weekly mass is even more important. By agreeing to vaccination passes the bishops are saying that no, mass (and by extension the Eucharist) is not important.

But this is really just doubling down on the erroneous decision to stop masses in the first place. Even in the time of the black plague there were still masses.

Note too how often bishops and priests have the reaction of “it is dangerous, masses and other services must be stopped” rather than “what can we do to make sure that masses continue.” Even if the danger were as big as they claimed, it would still be possible to have masses safely with enough work. But too many priests and bishops cancel things without even trying to see if it would be possible to do otherwise.

As for Jimmy Akin, looking at his site, he seems to be devoting his time to discussing almost nothing but the paranormal, Star Trek and Dr. Who. For better or worse I can’t find any recent comments from him about COVID or vaccines.

If I have this right, they’ve been under shutdown orders for the past 13 months? THESE past 13 months. Not the first 13 months, although we were back to our indoor Masses after 4?

The insanity of it all.

At the onset, in our facility, our manager refused to allow 2 of our actively dying patients the last rites.
They had no problem with allowing the undertaker to come into our facility, but a priest!?
No. I didn’t let it go. I fought and the POA was on board with me to get her mom the sacraments. I had to threaten my manager that we were taking the dying Catholic out of our home in 3 hours time. A new home had been arranged just so she could die with having had her last rite.
This was a bluff that the POA agreed too. I’m forever grateful for the prayers being said that morning at our Church by our two priests.
The bluff worked.

My manager recanted.
Priest arrived.
I was reprimanded for ” not staying in my lane.” Her verbiage.

Four hours later my resident died.

This set the precedent.

I’m just starting a work from author Raymond Gardella;
JESUS VERSUS CHRISTIANITY

Jesus actively pursued evil doers and defined their malevolence in the open. He did not wear the letters “PC” on his tunic. He was a “oneway” preacher- either with him or against him.

I mention the read because it could be very valuable to many in the coexist crowd who are willing to substitute Truth for doctrines that tickle the ears, making one believe that the Church is just too rigid.

This set the precedent.

Well done Philip. Don’t back down, you saved that persons soul or soared them time in purgatory. They will be praying for you. God Bless.
