Whatever the people who made this decision believe, it is certainly not Catholicism.
Catholicism as Sham

Donald R. McClarey
Cradle Catholic. Active in the pro-life movement since 1973. Father of three, one in Heaven, and happily married for 43 years. Small town lawyer and amateur historian. Former president of the board of directors of the local crisis pregnancy center for a decade.
France has all but wiped out the Faith. They don’t understand this now, but it’s the future generations who are going to suffer. They couldn’t care.
Give the muslims credit- they don’t let anybody weaken their religion. Eastern Christians have always known this.
Either Catholicism is true, or the evil, pagan, death cult is. In the immortal words of Fr. Jacques Hamel: Be gone Satan!
In the poetic words of John Donne; “Show me, dear Christ, thy spouse so bright and clear….”
Obviously, the vatican writes its own tainted poetry.
Ezabelle, I recall being 17 and in France, way back in 1953 or so, and as a young man, I was shocked to see how little they valued Christmas and how much they glorified the secular New Years. Their journey into secular worship has been going on for a while now.
According to traditional Islamic thought, by that act Saint Sulpice now belongs to Islam.
The Muslim owners have a higher christology than the current management, so there’s that.
The essence of consecration is to reserve that person or item for service to God. We would be shocked and outraged to see Susan from the Parish Council drinking her morning coffee from a chalice she boosted from the sacristy, and “Oh, if Father needs it he can just rinse it out” isn’t a defense— we know in our guts that it’s an affront to the belief that God’s greatness deserves the best we can give in His worship— and part of that ‘best’ is not using those things for lesser purposes, let alone the service of another religion hostile to the truth of the Catholic Faith.
And to make things even worse, as Dale Price notes above, for muslims, making a space a mosque makes it a bastion of islam— forever. I suspect the persons who made this decision at St. Sulpice neither understand the enormity of what they’ve done, nor would care if they did.
My cradle Catholic husband has sometimes stated as fact that the Knights Templar (yes, the guys from the History/Discovery channels), would allow Moslems to pray in a corner of their churches. I have never found anything to validate that, nor do I lend it credence. It does, however, make me wonder what the heck they were teaching in that Carmelite high school he went to! I did once mention St. Teresa of Avila and received a blank look.
Don L- Im not surprised. I have 2 uncles who dropped their Maronite Faith the moment they stepped into France in the 1960’s. That is why Islam has been able to speak so quickly in France and greater Europe. Faithlessness.
Islam spreading though attrition is not a new concept either. In this case in France, it was stupidly handed to them on a silver platter- “come into our Church and desecrate it)….
The spread is not done by military force anymore in the west (although this still occurs in some African countries).
Their intent is to make all lands Muslim. It’s not a myth or a prejudice. It’s a fact. And by “lands” it is literally buying land and building mosques, schools and spreading.
For example in the last 15 years the number of Islamic schools in New South Wales has tripled to 22 (for a population of 8million)!!
And probably the same amount of mosques (however smaller establishments are scattered throughout the State and used for preaching and prayer but architecturally not classified as a mosque- we don’t know how many of these there are.)
Islam is spreading.
The only obstacle to this are Urban Developers when a development proposal is put forward to build a mosque (in an area where the Muslim population is not very big). It’s usually met with opposition because of the congestion they create in an area. And locals usually oppose mosque developments for the same reason. That and “they” don’t have a reputation for making their communities clean and tidy (if you know what I mean). It probably (and I have no data to back up this statement) devalues property of surrounding homes too.
Well done – the largest working Church in Paris is going down the path of the Hagia Sophia. Just so frustrating how naive we are in the west.
Reflect for a moment on the insanity of St. Sulpice suppressing any celebration of les messes en rite extraordinaire to promote unity, and turning consecrated space over to islam— also under the pretext of ‘unity’.
Jesus wept.
Sorry I should have said “Urban development Planners”.
“My cradle Catholic husband has sometimes stated as fact that the Knights Templar (yes, the guys from the History/Discovery channels), would allow Moslems to pray in a corner of their churches.”
More rubbish has been written about the Knights Templars than any other organization. When king Philip the Fair of France decided to destroy the Templars and seize their wealth he spread any libels against them, including that they secretly worshiped Baphomet (Mohammed). All rubbish. A lot of crazy organizations and individuals pump a lot of this tripe into the internet.
The Holy League of 1571 are shaking their heads at this brilliant endeavor.
Our Lady of the Holy Rosary…pray for the Church Militant.
Especially for those who have surrendered and neglected their posts.
@Southcoast: “I once mentioned Saint Teresa Avila to [my spouse who graduated from a Carmelite high school] and I received a blank stare.”
Brutal.
The great and majestic Saint Ignatius Church in San Francisco adjacent to USF, modeled on Saint Paul Outside-the-Walls, also about 10 years ago had one of its side altars removed by the Jesuits there, and a Muslim mihrab [prayer niche orienting one to the Kaaba stone in Mecca] installed in place of the consecrated altar.
I had visited this church to pray there for nearly 4 decades. From that day on, I never set foot in the church again. It no longer belongs to Catholic Christendom.
In related news, Sam Rocha is engaging in a deranged crusade to call a priest racist. Evidence includes things like retweeting something in support of the Joe Rogan podcast, saying that white supremacists are pro-abortion, criticizing Joe Biden’s pledge to only nominate black women to the supreme court, saying that Africans are not immune from sinning due to the content of their skin, and retweeting something critical of Sam Rocha.
I mention it because his seriousness in this absolutely pathetic crusade highlights what people like him really hold as their religion.
Steve Phoenix.
Your report from SF just turned my stomach. Oh those Jesuits. Cant live with most of them, can’t cancel them either.
My deceased mom, God rest her soul, was a worrier. My fault I’m afraid. Sorry mom. She had help from St. Teresa of Avila;

A case for secondary causes I suppose.
We must trust in Jesus.
St. Teresa. Pray for us.
King Solomon was very accommodating towards his foreign wives. It led to his downfall and the division of his kingdom. Maccabees also covered similar behavior.
The other night, a very articulate, former Hindu, convert priest on EWTN quipped that he tells his Jesuit friends that despite attending their schools he became a Christian.
Those two obese, funny-looking Brits driving in an expensive sports car all over Europe are a hoot.
Re: Discovery/History channels – the Templar fictions and slanders/libels are simply symptomatic of their alternate ‘truth’ [which they pass off as ‘scholarship’] in many areas.
Of course, 99% of academia and the media falls under that cloud.
What is noteworthy to me regarding Philip le Bel’s [his main man’s parents had been arch heretics] Friday the 13th police action was its extent, planning, secrecy, and success. One would not think that was organizationally possible in the late Middle Ages.
So, [last] Grand Master Jacques de Molay was burned at the stake as a relapsed heretic after retracting his torture-induced confession. Within the year both Philip and the Pope that abetted in the murders and thefts were dead. Coincidence?
