Criticisms from the Vatican of how nations are run might be taken more seriously if the administration of the Vatican were not perpetually a mixture of corruption, inefficiency and utter confusion. Why does the Holy See own any physical assets other than the buildings (august and utilitarian) on it’s property and the chattels housed therein (or, perhaps, in commercial storage in Italy)? Liquidate and purchase securities and precious metals, and put them under the supervision of lay CFAs and CPAs.
The Pope shouldn’t be telling nations how to conduct their affairs in the first place, That’s not his job. I wish these guys would preach the gospel, and just shut the hell up about everything else.
