PopeWatch: Do as I Say, Not as I Do

Criticisms from the Vatican of how nations are run might be taken more seriously if the administration of the Vatican were not perpetually a mixture of corruption, inefficiency and utter confusion.  I sometimes think that God intends that the Vatican be such a Dog’s Breakfast of Babel to give a negative example.

The Vatican prosecutors are Binger/Krauss-level political hacks and incompetents.

Turning over videotaped witness interviews to the defense with massive, unexplained cuts? It seems more and more clear that the pontiff was well aware of the land deal and gave his approval. It could hardly be otherwise, given what a micromanager he is.

Why does the Holy See own any physical assets other than the buildings (august and utilitarian) on it’s property and the chattels housed therein (or, perhaps, in commercial storage in Italy)? Liquidate and purchase securities and precious metals, and put them under the supervision of lay CFAs and CPAs.
