Bing Crosby and David Bowie Sing the Little Drummer Boy

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n9kfdEyV3RQ

From Crosby’s last Christmas Special in 1977, taped five weeks before Crosby’s death from a massive heart attack on October 14, 1977.  Hopefully this event didn’t trigger it, because both men were leery about this very odd team up.  Bowie agreed to it only because his mother was a huge Crosby fan.  Crosby was still recovering from a 25 foot fall from a stage in March 1977 and was suffering from arteriosclerosis.  Crosby, before he would work with Bowie, had his producers tell him to lose the lipstick he was wearing and the earring.  Oddly I think them singing together works, both being masters of the craft in very different times.

Bowie always did great collaborations. I don’t think he ever produced a dud. And with Bing Crosby, it’s magical.
