It reminds me of every speech Obama gave in his first year as president. Whatever the currents of history, I hold myself up as a shining example. That kind of stuff. Humble people recognize that they’re standing on the shoulders of giants; egotistical people think all of human history led to them. It’s almost the exact same thing, but with a failure to recognize that all human history led to everyone else too.
