The Struggle That Would Not End

Wise men have said that their cause was a failure”

Peadar Kearney, Bold Fenian Men (1916)

History teaches us that most causes that refuse to admit defeat, no matter the odds against them, stand a very good chance of ultimately prevailing in the end.  Good column by Peggy Noonan, but, ironically, we are where we are at now due to President Trump, who Noonan opposed.  God ever uses the most unlikely clay to work His will.  I have been proud of many things in this life, but outside of my family and the Faith, I have never been prouder of anything than standing with my stalwart brothers and sisters of the Pro-life Movement.

God uses all men, both good & bad in his grand plan.

God used the pagan Cyrus to end the Babylonian captivity and released the Jews. With a cherry on top of rebuilding the Temple.

God used Constantine, a pagan until his death, to legalize Christianity, i.e., end legal persecution & end the prohibition of practicing Christianity. With a cherry on top of gifting buildings & building churches for the faith.

God used Trump to appoint pro-life judges to the Supreme Court. We don’t know the end of this story, but he sure has done more in his four short years than all the pro-life presidents combined since Roe v Wade was proclaimed.

“I have never been prouder of anything than standing with my stalwart brothers and sisters of the Pro-life Movement.” That’s something to be proud of. A fight that even though seems like a losing battle most of the time. That’s testament to the perseverance and trust one has in our God that He make things right once again. That hope is sometimes all you have to cling onto.
