“When evil days are upon us and the worker of malice gains power, we must attend to our own souls and seek to know the ways of the Lord. In those times reverential fear and perseverance will sustain our faith, and we will find need of forbearance and self-restraint as well. Provided that we hold fast to these virtues and look to the Lord, then wisdom, understanding, knowledge and insight will make joyous company with them.” Second Reading, Office of Readings, 1 August, 2021 (beginnings of a letter from Barnabas)
We are living in bad times and how should we cope? By a stroke of fortune, a friend from a Catholic 12 Step organization (the Calix Society) referred me to a Youtube interview of Fr. Michael Gaitly, MIC, that gives the answer.  Fr. Gaitley is a Marian of the Immaculate Conception, one of the congregation of the National Shrine of Divine Mercy. Keith Nester, Catholic Feedback, was the interviewer.  It’s long (over 90 minutes), but worth your time.  I’ll not summarize it, other than to say Fr. Gaitley’s message—love is the solution in bad times nationally and at home—hit the mark for me.
Here’s the video:
Thank you (and Barnabas). I do not attend TLM, but when I read, last night, that the Bishop of San Diego has given the Latin Masses here 30 days to get out of Dodge, my heart was burdened and bitter. After wrestling with this for a while, I handed it off,as best I can, and prayed for Wisdom. Again, thanks.
