Institutions in Rapid Decline

This is the way the world ends
This is the way the world ends
This is the way the world ends
Not with a bang but a whimper.

TS Eliot

Observing the ongoing debacle of our military going woke reminds me of what has been happening to our Church.  Institutions which are poor at their functions, and which cannot go out of business like a firm in the private sector going bankrupt, inevitably seek to assume new functions to disguise their failures.  Thus a Church that fails at teaching the Laity the essentials of the Faith, and cannot adequately address the scandal of predator members of the Clergy, signs on to fight against Climate Change, Borders and to almost all the other nostrums of the chattering classes of the West.  A military which over two decades has failed to defeat  the ragged Taliban insurgency in Afghanistan, and which bailed on helping to battle massive riots in cities around the nation in 2020, has now become a champion  of Critical Race Theory and homosexual propaganda.  General Mark Milley and the Pope are symptoms of deep and ongoing institutional rot.  There of course is a high price to be paid by institutions that follow this path.  The Church betrays the Great Commission and becomes, like the Protestant main line denominations, merely part of the cacophony of the Left with all the moral authority of the League of Women Voters, saving no one and nothing.  A woke military is a military itching to be defeated, a fact which China is clearly aware of.  Iowahawk of course described this process succinctly:

1. Identify a respected institution.

2. kill it.

3. gut it.

4. wear its carcass as a skin suit, while demanding respect

As to the comment about knowing the geography and politics of who dies in our wars, the question becomes why do they keep serving in an institution that hates them for a government that is indifferent to them at best? And let’s face it – no one has been fighting for our country for well over 50 years now – they have been fighting for our government and its controllers.

I was definitely fighting for the USA.

Going off of how many folks broke down in tears at Greenwood’s “Proud to be an American” song during bootcamp, so were a lot of others.
