PopeWatch: Hmmm

Make what you will of this:

VATICAN CITY — President Joe Biden’s attendance at early morning Mass with Pope Francis has been nixed from an early plan of the June 15 meeting of both leaders, a reliable Vatican source told CNA.

President Biden, who is in Europe for several high level meetings, had taken the morning of June 15 off to meet Pope Francis as President of the United States for the first time. The President’s entourage had originally requested for Biden to attend Mass with the Pope early in the morning, but the proposal was nixed by the Vatican after considering the impact that President Biden receiving Holy Communion from the Pope would have on the discussions the USCCB is planning to have during their meeting starting Wednesday, June 16. The U.S. bishops are slated to vote on creating a committee that would draft a document about Eucharistic coherence.

Go here to read the rest.  Of course the story is now being denied, the denial focusing on Biden never having intended to stop in Rome.  Quien sabe?  As for Biden I am sure he is not certain where he is at any given time.  As for the Pope he may be keeping his distance until he determines whether Biden will be President much longer.

No Mass? But, why do I still sense that these two are on the same team?

It seems to me that the excuse for not denying communion, I.e. “politicizing the Eucharist”, cuts both ways.
Therefore it should not be an excuse not to.

Too many bishops are little better than ecclesial politicians and bureaucrats. Willingness to give the Eucharist to pro-abortion politicians and bureaucrats appears, for the most part, to be simply them looking out for and covering for one of the own. Birds of a feather.

Do I detect a fine Italian hand in this nixing of the Mass? Whatever one might say about Bergoglio (our Holy Father), I’m sure he didn’t get to his present position without being an astute politician. Which means he can put his finger in the air and know which way the wind blows.

Thank God for small mercies.

Unconfirmed. I read in Instapundit that the Pope and et al decided not to give Holy Communion Abortion Joe. Ergo the cancellation worked for both parties.

Here’s my go-to comment for almost everything, and specifically the next meeting of the USCCB, “The people that wrecked the Church are meeting to discuss how to fix the Church.”

Gee Biden seems to be going to Mass a lot these days. Was this always the case? You’d hope and think that someone who is supposedly meant to be receiving so much Grace from his Mass attendance, might actually have a by now had a moment of conversion about his beliefs on the sanctity of life.

Ezabelle, It’s a sobering thought, best if we concentrate on having our head on straight when we go to communion.

Totally David. Holding my breath for the day, that a brave priest blindsides him with a simple blessing and wave of the hand to “move along”…
