Corgis are both willful and obedient.
It’s a laugh when you give them a command that they don’t like. They’ll grumble to themselves, look away as if at first they didn’t hear, but …. They do obey.

(Lady, does your dog understand full sentences? 🙂

I’ve seen this poor pooch pop up on my youtube stream often. I totally get him.

We had the choir back for the first time on Sunday. We did a procession for Corpus Christi, 90 degrees and swarmed by cicadas. It was glorious and penitential.

Must be glorious to be back to some normality in Church, Pinky. Nothing says summer like a chorus of cicadas.

On another note: My daughter had all First Holy Communion last Sunday at our local Parish. All went well, small cohort of Sacrament recipients and reduced numbers in the Church…not sure why as there are no cases in Sydney…they keep picking on the Churches.

However, at my parents Parish, a large cohort of children made their First Holy Communion. One particular girl and her mum ended up in the local paper. Apparently the mother told the Parish priest that her daughter will be wearing trouser to receive the Sacrament. The Priest told her dress code was a white dress for girls. Her mother kicked up a stink and threatened to pull her daughter out. Not sure if father agreed but the Karen-mother and her daughter got their way. She wore the trousers and ended up in the local paper for her “bravery” and wokeness…

A little thing like that. How could you not call it a French bulldog?

Re: little dogs – I mean little, little dogs.

Whenever I’m walking Buddy (Lab mix) and I see some new dog owner being walked by a tiny dog, I about face and walk away. Invariably, the six pound canine stick of dynamite goes nuts and seemingly wants to tear out my dog’s throat.

One of these days I’ll let Buddy eat one.

Seems to me Cashew needs to be walked more often by his owner and perhaps be fed some canned or fresh cooked pumpkin mixed in with his dry food. Canned or fresh carrots, canned green beans, microwaved sweet potatoes are a treat. Cashew could be hyper thyroid. I walked two miles a day with a Rhodesian Ridgeback yet he gained weight and shed. Tests showed hyper thyroid. He was very good about his daily pill and slimmed down. Now I have two hypo thyroid cats. Symptoms -losing fur, skinny and vomitting so I had them tested. They either are dosed with a hormone cream smeared in an ear or a tuna flavored liquid med mixed in with their wed food. They’ve gained weight; have with shiney fur.
Little dogs can be barky and have fear aggression. Newton at 12 lbs, the smallest of the three dachshunds, was the alpha dog. If he didn’t want Sam the Ridgeback to eat the kibble, Sam didn’t. We had to start feeding Newton separately because when he had his fill he’d raise his leg on what was left in the bowl. We had a huge dog crate for naps and bedtime. Sam would nap first and Newton would come in and use Sam as his pillow.

I haven’t heard any cicadas yet. But, I have really bad tinnitus so it’s rare for me to hear anything …other than thIs horrid sound in my head 24/7. For now, I’ll just pretend it’s cicadas I hear.

T Shaw, I’ve had a black lab growing up and I love that breed, always will.
But as the owner of a black Pembroke corgi, I’ll never go back. I love their attitude and willful herding intelligence. And as I grow older and become more of a curmudgeon I’ll have a breed to grow old with.

Ezabelle.
I sympathize with you.
Obedience is a gift we give God. The Karen mom is need of prayer..and instruction.

Obedience and k-9’s.
[ ? ]

Be the alpha dog.
It works.
The dog whisperer taught some astounding lessons on disobedient dogs and I have used those lessons to help friends with dogs that are difficult.

For our family cat only, these days.
I like it that way.
She’s a great loving friend who throws her body against me.
I’ll dread the day she departs this world.

We had to put our Golden Doodle on a diet. She is a food addict. So I get this.

PS. I am with the cat

Cashew’s owner needs to walk him more often. Also add canned or fresh cooked pumpkin to his kibble. Most vets recommend it for portly dogs. A microwaved sweet potato, canned or raw carrots and canned green beans also add fiber and the dogs often think they are getting treats. Cashew could be hypo thyroid which after testing a prescribed hormone pill would take care of excess weight and shedding.
