PopeWatch: Schism?

Schism?:

A Catholic theologian has said it is “foolish” to deny that the German “Synodal Way” is seeking changes that would be schismatic.

Capuchin Fr. Thomas Weinandy made the comment after Bishop Georg Bätzing, chairman of the German bishops’ conference, insisted that the country’s Catholics were not “schismatics” seeking to “detach ourselves as the German national Church from Rome.”

“Well, if the German Synodal Way is not heading for schism, it has fooled a lot of people,” said Fr. Weinandy, a former member of the Vatican’s International Theological Commission.

“It is obvious that the German Synodal Way is proposing changes in the Church’s teaching that would be schismatic. It cannot be denied, and it is foolish to state otherwise.”

Go here to read the rest.  PopeWatch believes the proper term is heresy.  All heresies have a schismatic component in denying the teaching authority of the Church, but what the German Synodists propose drains the substance from Christianity and attempts to fill it with the preoccupations of the contemporary Left of the West.  Of course the sponsor of all this nonsense about local synods is the Pope.  He helped set this up and is now purportedly wringing his hands about what is happening in Germany.  PopeWatch does not believe it.  PopeWatch suspects that the Germans are proceeding faster than the Pope wishes but the ultimate destination is the same:  A Catholic Church reduced to a shell which does not challenge the world view of Leftism, particularly on sexual and other social issues, currently so dominant among the chattering classes of the West.  Worst Pope ever.

Are these synodal thingies going to take votes for the big guy to change in the second half’s agenda?

The bishop of Rome is not an obstacle to but, actually, a fellow traveler with the German bishops,.
