Dream Scenario seen on Instapundit: 2022 Trump wins a FL seat in House, GOP adds five seats to take House majority; Trump is elected Speaker; GOP and Trump impeach Chinese Joe.

It’s not so far out.

A dream, T.Shaw, but I think the wrong one. I agree with others who have pointed out that the House is just not where Trump belongs. It’s not well suited to his style and he would get even more bogged down than he did in the presidency.

Vir Cotto in lingua Latina means man (hero) with pike (lance).

I wonder if the Babylon 5 writers intended that.

@LQC – given that the show runner of B5 was J. Michael Straczynski AND it contains numerous references to Lord of the Rings as well as the king arthur myth…

Intending a latin pun/foreshadowing seems the least improbable thing. 😉

I’ve been considering getting HBO max for awhile for all the DC comics content on there. I see B5 is there as well.

Tempting…

You may be right, Nate. Another example: Ambassador Mollari’s last name derives from the Latin mollior meaning “more soft.” My Latin dictionary says that the “ar” in mollari is a “means / instrument / place for special purpose of noun & verb.” So maybe mollari can be defined as “the means or instrument of softness.” I am not an expert, so maybe a linguist of ancient languages on TAC can help.

BTW, Straczynski’s family religion was Catholic (I don’t know if he however remained Catholic), and he has Belarusian ancestry. His grandparents lived in the area which today belongs to Belarus. They had fled to America from the Russian Revolution; his father was born in the United States and has lived in Poland, Germany and Russia.

JMS’s writing at his very finest: planting the seed early, developing the characters beautifully, and then a perfect payoff.

Fun trivia: Ed Wasser (Mr. Morden) left the acting business, but runs a successful home renovation business in California.

LQC:

Straczynski himself is a professed atheist, but not of the fanged variety. He has a kind spot in his heart for his former religion, and I would not give up on him returning.

@Dale – JMS is also a professional writer (and I mean that as a compliment) and is devoted to what would make the best story.

Believing in something higher – even just simple truth or art forms – is a reason to hope for many. 🙂
