Given how Barrett has come since being on the Court, it seems their disdain is justified.

I know I’ve just always heard so much praise for the federalist society hearing complaints about it from the right kind of throws me for a loop.

Sometimes I wish I could get them to slow down and go into more detail about it. I thought I was pretty red-pilled but this past year has been a force-feeding of just how disappointing previous conservatives are that I used to look up to.

One benefit about the miserable state of the Trump appointed justices (especially Barrett) is that it puts a final nail into the establishment Republican shell game for anyone who is watching.

What I mean is that for years (decades ?) the go to GOP line was that the only thing that mattered was supreme court appointments. Nothing can be done until the supreme court is on our side. One of the most common arguments against Trump in the primaries was that we couldn’t take a gamble with him since there would be so many important supreme court appointments.

But not only did Trump win and make three appointments, every time he took them from the pre-approved establishment republican lists. Thus (unintentionally) revealing how bankrupt all of that talk about the importance of the supreme court was.

I do wonder what the new shell game will be. Even though they can convince people who aren’t paying attention that their picks were good, for that very reason they can’t go back to the “oh woe is me we can’t do a damn thing until we have more support on the court” pitch. They also can’t really go to “we may not be great but at least we’re keeping the democrats from doing worse” line either, since they aren’t even bothering to resist now.

GOP delenda est. No way forward until it is either replaced by a new party, or purged from within and replaced by actual patriots.

RH, I agree, especially with your last sentence.
Maybe I’m over-reacting, and I admit I have not yet read the opinions that have so many people up in arms (figuratively speaking, so far at least), but it seems rather “in your face” that Kavanaugh and Barrett would have gone over to the Dark Side so quickly. Normally it takes a year or two, at least, for supposedly conservative Justices to “grow in office” and become thinly disguised liberals.

I think one of the most interesting part of the discussion the point about if Trump has learned anything from his mistakes.

I lost a lot of confidence with Trump when he endorsed Luther Strange and even had a rally to n Huntsville for Luther Strange when Mo Brooks was a proven solid constitutional conservative.

Well Trump May have a second chance since Selby is retiring and Mo Brooks has expressed interest running again for the senate. Hopefully Trump will show better judgement than with his endorsement for that the race to fill the Session seat.

Most of his supporters still have great affection for Trump and will likely be very forgiving. However, if he keeps favoring establishment back stabbers over true conservatives willing to fight for our Republic and Constitution then it may be time to consider a more reliable populist candidate.

It is essential that the Judicial Branch return to its particular pride of place: least equal among three co-equal Branches.

Somehow we have turned them into the House of Lords who have veto power over everything we do.

With this PA decision, it is actually a blessing. They have declared themselves irrelevant to the topic. Thank you! I agree. They are not, and that is clear. The Court is not relevant here. We the People will decide this one, and then inform the Court on the outcome. Fight’s on!
