Larry Flynt is dead. Without violating the above Latin maxim that is all I can say about him.
De mortuis nihil nisi bonum

Donald R. McClarey
Cradle Catholic. Active in the pro-life movement since 1973. Father of three, one in Heaven, and happily married for 43 years. Small town lawyer and amateur historian. Former president of the board of directors of the local crisis pregnancy center for a decade.
Flynt was both; a product and a causal agent of America’s age of turning from God to flesh. His, er, “victims” were far too willing to buy what he offered.
The Triumvirate is dead: Hugh Hefner of Playboy, Bob Guccione of Penthouse, Larry Flynt of Hustler. As a former submarine sailor who avidly perused such magazines in his sailing days, I never liked Penthouse or Hustler. I found them cheap and tawdy, and the women they portrayed trampy and slutty. But Playboy photos were always well-done, artistic and “classy.” And the women photographed were always very beautiful, and not just for their nudity. Often that was secondary. Yes, sometimes I did read the articles. Playboy would on occasion have good ones. But of course over time the magazine fell out of interest to me as I got serious about faith and family. As to those three men, may God have mercy on their souls. But one can argue I am no better, having once consumed their merchandise (or at least Hefner’s, not Guccione’s nor Flynt’s whom I regarded as loathsome and despicable).
PS, weren’t all these men pro-feminist Democrats? Oh the irony! Being women-affirming and women-using simultaneously.
I apologize in advance.
When one of those people dies I think of an old adage, “Only the good die young.”
I hope he had a late-life conversion and repented. .
Actually, the first thought that came to me was “He died yesterday? I thought he died years ago.” I was also kind of surprised to discover that Flynt was “only” 78 years old; I figured him to be about the same age as Hefner (born 1926) and Guccione (born 1930), both of whom would be in their 90s if they were still living. Given that he had ongoing health problems since being shot and paralyzed in 1978, it’s somewhat surprising he lasted as long as he did.
Speaking of stopped clocks being right twice a day, he told the New York Post in 2004, concerning the explosion of porn on the internet, that “There’s no substitute for the real thing.” While Flynt was referring to “live” porn in the form of strippers, etc., if the “real thing” is taken to mean a genuine man-woman relationship in the context of marriage, that statement is correct.
May he Rest in Eternal Peace. I try to offer that on behalf of anyone who has passed.
A man of whom it can be said, he had a totally wasted life. I only wish the Supreme court had found a better issue upon which to affirm 1st Amendment rights. RIP

I don’t pray for anyone’s eternal damnation, knowing the suffering and fire and torment that will never die.
But …. I do pray that God’s will be done. This man led not just millions to hell but civilizations. His possible punishment is terrifying.
If he condemns him to the lake of fire forever – praise God for His justice, no less than do I praise Him for His mercy that He extends to this man, and to us, for so many years as God calls us to repentance while there is time left.
