The two division equivalent of National Guardsmen, summoned to Washington to serve as inaugural props against a non-existent enemy, have been treated shamefully, from sleeping on floors in Capitol Hill buildings to provide photo ops, to being shunted aside once the inaugural was completed. The whole sorry business brings to mind this poem by Kipling:
I WENT into a public ‘ouse to get a pint o’ beer,
The publican ‘e up an’ sez, ” We serve no red-coats here.”
The girls be’ind the bar they laughed an’ giggled fit to die,
I outs into the street again an’ to myself sez I:
O it’s Tommy this, an’ Tommy that, an’ ” Tommy, go away ” ;
But it’s ” Thank you, Mister Atkins,” when the band begins to play
The band begins to play, my boys, the band begins to play,
O it’s ” Thank you, Mister Atkins,” when the band begins to play.
I went into a theatre as sober as could be,
They gave a drunk civilian room, but ‘adn’t none for me;
They sent me to the gallery or round the music-‘alls,
But when it comes to fightin’, Lord! they’ll shove me in the stalls!
For it’s Tommy this, an’ Tommy that, an’ ” Tommy, wait outside “;
But it’s ” Special train for Atkins ” when the trooper’s on the tide
The troopship’s on the tide, my boys, the troopship’s on the tide,
O it’s ” Special train for Atkins ” when the trooper’s on the tide.
Yes, makin’ mock o’ uniforms that guard you while you sleep
Is cheaper than them uniforms, an’ they’re starvation cheap.
An’ hustlin’ drunken soldiers when they’re goin’ large a bit
Is five times better business than paradin’ in full kit.
Then it’s Tommy this, an’ Tommy that, an` Tommy, ‘ow’s yer soul? “
But it’s ” Thin red line of ‘eroes ” when the drums begin to roll
The drums begin to roll, my boys, the drums begin to roll,
O it’s ” Thin red line of ‘eroes, ” when the drums begin to roll.
We aren’t no thin red ‘eroes, nor we aren’t no blackguards too,
But single men in barricks, most remarkable like you;
An’ if sometimes our conduck isn’t all your fancy paints,
Why, single men in barricks don’t grow into plaster saints;
While it’s Tommy this, an’ Tommy that, an` Tommy, fall be’ind,”
But it’s ” Please to walk in front, sir,” when there’s trouble in the wind
There’s trouble in the wind, my boys, there’s trouble in the wind,
O it’s ” Please to walk in front, sir,” when there’s trouble in the wind.
You talk o’ better food for us, an’ schools, an’ fires, an’ all:
We’ll wait for extry rations if you treat us rational.
Don’t mess about the cook-room slops, but prove it to our face
The Widow’s Uniform is not the soldier-man’s disgrace.
For it’s Tommy this, an’ Tommy that, an` Chuck him out, the brute! “
But it’s ” Saviour of ‘is country ” when the guns begin to shoot;
An’ it’s Tommy this, an’ Tommy that, an’ anything you please;
An ‘Tommy ain’t a bloomin’ fool – you bet that Tommy sees!
And yet it was according to “anonymous sources” that Trump said mean things about the troops. Isn’t it interesting how what Trump was accused of in rumor we keep seeing Biden actually do? (that was sarcasm)
I was reading National Review’s summation about Joe Biden’s biography and it mentioned in there (among other instances) that he would let the grass get 3 feet high and then hit it with the riding mower.
Which would break down, leading him to buy another. Which would also end up breaking down necessitating another mower and so on.
I see he’s going to bring that same kind of care and attention to the troops serving his office.
I am honestly conflicted whether America would be better or worse off if Biden didn’t have dementia.
“You bet Tommy sees.”
Deploying troops isn’t how ‘winners’ celebrate. Some wiseacre said they did it to beef up the crowd count.
It’s not only Tommy. Seventy-three million of us (productive, thinking Americans – not fraudulent mail-in/Zuckerberg drop box fictitious voters) know the enemies of liberty are in temporary control in DC.
Thank God for small mercies. Next time Chinese Joe’s handlers – Xi Jinping and the Idiocracy – might ship in the Chicom PLA.
Chinese Joe Didn’t Win. We Were Robbed. We Know What They Did Last November.
I am forced to wonder if that batallion is from an “oppresed red state”. Texas, perhaps.
.
The utter stupidity of the ruling elite is breath taking. Successful dictators and totalitarian types know you take care your-guys-with-guns…or they might end up being the opposition’s-guys-with-guns.
They are learning whose side not to be on.

Trump commented on it.
When children get bored with their toys they don’t care where they leave them.
@Rudolph
Funny you mention that…

During exercises in S. Korea the troops sleep in heated tents, have latrines and chow halls. Where’s the senior military leadership? ,
Now this:

The real shame is very few people know about the story due to Pravda-US & Izvestia-US.
And they never will.
And they never will.
They will if enough of us spread the news. If the dissidents in Eastern Europe could topple an empire with mimeographed papers passed hand to hand, we have absolutely no excuse. Also, you can bet a lot of National Guardsmen are going to be yelling their heads off about this throughout the nations in their communities.
Governors of Texas, Florida, New Hampshire and Montana have recalled their guardsmen back to the state.
No one knows who ordered a contingent of guardsmen to R n R in an underground cold parking garage. Sure.
7,000 National Guardsmen to remain in DC, presumably on Capitol Hill until Feb. 6. Maybe even through March. Worry about impeachment proceedings reactions is the rationale. Schumer and McConnell are squarely to blame if anything happens.
At this point it’s clear that they want a skirmish between “right wing extremists” and the guard.
The only thing that surprises me is that they are apparently waiting for it to happen “organically” (with the aid of their prodding) rather than just false flagging it.
“Where’s the senior military leadership?”
Disgraceful. An over-supply of National Guardsmen protecting a barricaded inauguration, which nobody was allowed to attend, and where the President and VP were holed up in the WH watching it on a Television screen. And they made these men sleep on a carpark concrete floor. The Senior military leadership should have walked their men off the job. Quick smart.
