2020 Doesn’t Even Take Christmas Off

The Nashville Christmas Day bombing strikes me as a fairly sophisticated act of terrorism whose purpose is quite obscure.  I fear it was done as a trial run.  Lots of speculation based on insufficient information.  Those hoping for a better 2021 might well be disappointed.  We shall all see in due course.

I agree. Except for nuclear power plants, the infrastructure of critical facilities (e.g., communications, electrical power and hydroelectric, water and sewage treatment, chemical and petroleum, methane gas pipelines, etc.) are generally poorly protected with minimal if any defenses. An attack against the AT&T center in Nashville appears to have impacted a wide area of Tennessee for a certain period of time. There is also rumor of this center being used to route NSA and other government communication. Of course that cannot be confirmed because the identity of any such center would be concealed the knowledge of the general public. That news outlets reported there were, prior to detonation, audible loudspeaker warnings from the vehicle which exploded indicates the people who devised this bombing are not Muslims, BLM or Antifa. Such terrorist gave no quarter to innocent human life. But these bombers seemed to care about not causing loss of life. It appears that they wanted to send a signal to government – likely the incoming Administration. That’s my speculation, and I could very well be completely wrong. Nevertheless, I think we’re on the verge of civil war. There are many who will not tolerate a socialist government, and rightly so, though initiation of force (whether resulting in destruction of property or loss of life) is always and everywhere wrong. Even if this bombing was intended to send a message to a corrupt government or was planned as a test run in preparation to pending draconian Democrat rule, it is still as wrong as the initiation of force by Muslims, BLM or Antifa would be. Yes, fight like the Maccabean brothers did against their Seleucid overlords, but they fought only after the Seleucids initiation force against them to compel them to violate God’s Law given to Moses. Their motive was defense of their faith, liberty and the innocent.

“Trial run” is the only thing that makes sense– the only other option I can think of is pissing match, to make the local police look bad. I don’t know if there’s any gangs/cartels moving into the area or not.

The warning really messes up most motives other than insurance for the destroyed businesses.

The old Irish Republican Army used to do this kind of thing to reduce loss of life. Does tend to lend credence to a non-communist/muslim group.

I’ve seen contentions in fora like this that communications facilities are generally quite well protected and that the perpetrators scoped out a weak spot.

My supposition would be that China is behind this. Sorosphere outfits might be able to recruit people with the necessary sophistication, but they’ve lately been interested in local level power moves to wreck public order. Jihadi violence tends to be cruder and more oriented toward body counts. Hostile foreign governments tend to be places which are poor and wrecked (Nicaragua, Venezuela, Cuba). The exceptions would be China, Russia, Iran, and Turkey. Another possibility would be deep state activity – say from extensions of John Brennan in the intelligence services.

Note, if China is behind this, we have another possibility to consider: COVID is biowarfare. We have reason to believe that the Far East version of the virus was a lot less contagious than the occidental version. Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan could use tools available to insular countries to contain the virus while the other places in the Far East were partially protected by their tropical climates. In this scenario, China would have had advance warning and used harsh lockdown measures in Wuhan province to prevent the spread there, then seeded Lombardy and other areas with the more contagious virus. The milder version of the virus spreads to the west coast in the U.S., while the BosWash corrider gets the European version (which eventually spreads everywhere).

I disagree. I think the warning and count down were meant to cause panic and fear. In Robert Heinlein’s “Starship Troopers” each soldier had one talking hand grenade. They were used to cause panic. “I’m a thirty second bomb! I’m a thirty second bomb! Twenty-nine! Twenty-eight! Twenty-seven!…”

Doesn’t work with the minimum of 30 minute lead-in, and the location is a terrible choice for panic– there are folks living over the shops, but it’s not like they stopped in front of an apartment complex.

I said FEAR and panic. We are discussing it now on the blog and it is being written about on many others, not to mention the hundreds of TV and radio broadcasts. It not only had locals in fear but it has already had ramifications nationwide. Here in Cincinnati, they had a downtown street shut down for several hours due to an unattended white RV. It was parked outside / near the Federal Court house, so naturally due to a fear of another bomb they had to take precautions.

And I said the 30 minute warning announcement goes directly against that idea.

There are probably folks in Seattle who are deeply conflicted because on one hand, they can finally get the meth lab RVs moved– and on the other, it was a bomb.

There is no reason to give the warning with enough time to actually leave the area, it works directly against panic, fear, or even making folks look funny at RVs.

My family I’m staying with at Christmas are close enough to Nashville that our cell phones, internet, and landlines were knocked out for the better part of yesterday and today. (The blast happened real close to the AT&T building in Nashville.)

Absolutely baffling. There’s nothing political going on in Nashville – no recounts or anything. The warning signals seem to have been an effort to keep casualties to a minimum (and thankfully no one died).

If there was any message to be delivered in this it’s absolutely baffling.

Respectfully, I think you’ve overlooked the possibility of spectacular melodramatic suicide.

With China’s agent in the White House we are going to have a very rugged 2021.

And 2022, 2023, 2024 ….

Suicide, pretty much by definition, doesn’t make sense.

As I told someone whose immediate suggestion was “suicide with location chosen for personal reasons” (phones were still out level immediate) — it’s like when an archeologist declares that something that doesn’t make sense in a dig was done for religious reasons. Not because it’s not likely to be correct, but because it’s almost impossible to prove or disprove except by elimination.
