PopeWatch: Your Donations at Work

This is why PopeWatch hasn’t given a dime to the Campaign for Human Development in years:

The domestic anti-poverty program of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) has announced that it will spend $500,000 to “overcome the impacts” and “address the root causes” of climate change in order to help the nation’s poor.

Bishop David G. O’Connell, auxiliary bishop of Los Angeles and chairman of The Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) subcommittee, hailed the move as an “effort to put Laudato Si’ in action.”

“The adverse effects of climate change devastate poor communities around the country and with this project, CCHD and DART will seek to live out the call of Pope Francis to respond to ‘the cry of the earth and the cry of the poor,’” he said. Laudato Si’ is the pope’s 2015 encyclical on the environment for which critics accused the pope of throwing the weight of the Catholic Church behind the globalist environmental agenda.

Go here to read the rest.  As the clergy fail miserably at their tasks of teaching, spreading and protecting the Faith, they increasingly pursue a Leftist agenda, as if to deliberately alienate the orthodox laity still remaining in the pews.  The Catholic Church is trodding the well worn path of the mainline Protestant denominations to extinction.  The Church will withstand the gates of Hell; this nonsense will not last another generation.

Yes, there is a problem with Catholics, who knowing little about the Faith and ill formed consciences, fall back on mindless sentimentalism and blind obedience. This surely makes them feel good but is destroying the Church. Of course, it was all intended that way in line with the Vatican II program of incremental Protestantization.

Back in 2007, the USCCB appointed Ralph McCloud to head the CCHD. Later it was discovered that McCloud was at the same time working as campaign treasurer for Texas politician Wendy Davis, aka. “Abortion Barbie”, a State representative who centered her campaign on removing regulations on the abortion industry.

McCloud still heads the “C”CHD.

Not.
One.
Dime.

This kind of revealing knowledge, though repugnant, merely supports the Church’s teachings that we are all sinners. If hand-picked Judas can preach and heal and then betray Jesus and St. Peter had to be corrected by the dreaded “Sol,” it stands that the Church remains holy while it’s members may indeed fail. Keep your heavenly oriented coins under your control.

A very simple top-down reform which might have a chance of doing some good would be the dissolution of the bishops’ conference and the dismissal of it’s staff. Of course, it won’t happen.

As the clergy fail miserably at [fill in]

What gets you about the bishops and the parish clergy is that succeeding at some things would take less effort than they’re putting in failing. What also gets you is that they fail at the less challenging tasks and don’t get to first base on the more challenging ones.

Here’s a brain squeezer. How is it that Episcopal bishops (“most of them deeply mediocre men” quoth David Mills) manage an annual or biennial visit to every parish in their diocese and you don’t see a Catholic bishop from one generation to the next? The average diocese has 87 parishes you could manage one scheduled and one unscheduled visit every biennium. For the more populous dioceses, you could put the auxilliary bishops on circuit as well.

The lack of interest in truth. What are the possibly thinking !
They are certainly able to see the incoherence of their position but swallow the lie. The old transgressions of industry and capitalism -smog and dirty water – have and are being dealt with – just as institutional racism has been and is being dealt with. We get very close to getting things right and the swamp creatures of the black lagoon want to pull us backward
With their tried and failed solutions
