Revealing the lack of knowledge about fire arms that has ever been the hallmark of gun grabbers, the AR-15 semi-automatic rifle has been in their cross hairs since the Orlando shootings. Initially it was claimed that the AR-15 was used by Omar Mateen during his murderous rampage. Nope, he used a Sig Sauer MCX semi-automatic rifle and a pistol.
Before that was revealed, Gersch Kuntzman of the New York Daily News ran this unintentionally hilarious post about his experience firing an AR-15:
The recoil bruised my shoulder, which can happen if you don’t know what you’re doing. The brass shell casings disoriented me as they flew past my face. The smell of sulfur and destruction made me sick. The explosions — loud like a bomb — gave me a temporary form of PTSD. For at least an hour after firing the gun just a few times, I was anxious and irritable.Even in semi-automatic mode, it is very simple to squeeze off two dozen rounds before you even know what has happened. If illegally modified to fully automatic mode, it doesn’t take any imagination to see dozens of bodies falling in front of your barrel.All it takes is the will to do it.Forty nine people can be gone in 60 seconds.
As a fellow member of the patriarchy, I worry about Mr. Kuntzman’s masculinity and self-image. I have, on numerous occasions, introduced females, including little girls no older than 10 and no more than 70 pounds, to the awe-inspiring power of the AR-15. Granted, they had to fire from a supported position, lacking the strength to support the 7-pound rifle for long otherwise, but after firing many rounds, their universal reaction was one of delight–they found the little rifle’s accuracy and ease of use pleasing–and not a bruise among them. The same is true of adult women, many no more than 110 pounds sopping wet.
Mr. Kuntzman seems a bit delusional in other ways. Unless he is left handed and fired the rifle from his left shoulder, there would have been no brass flying past his face to disorient him, and the odors he reports might be experienced when firing a black powder rifle, but not a rifle using modern ammunition. And what, I wonder, does “destruction” smell like? And explosions? “Loud like a bomb”? I can only hope a sensitive fellow like Mr. Kuntzman is never within aural range of an actual explosion. Judging by his reaction to the report of an AR-15, which is mild indeed among rifle cartridges–and even some handgun cartridges–he’d be unlikely to survive.
PTSD? From firing a few rounds through an AR-15? Really? Perhaps Mr. Kuntzman would be well served by doing a bit of research on what actually constitutes PTSD. Perhaps he could ask a few combat veterans.
Mr. Kuntzman’s prose gives the reader the impression he fired a fully automatic rifle, as he differentiates between full and semiautomatic fire, without specifically saying that. Yet in one paragraph he claims to have fired the rifle “just a few times,” and in the next, he fires “two dozen rounds” so rapidly he has no idea what happened. Even when firing genuinely automatic weapons, I’ve never failed to be aware of what was happening, but that’s just me, gun nut that I am.
Mr. Kuntzman also imagines “dozens of bodies falling in front of [his] your barrel.” No wonder gun dealers were reluctant to allow him to shoot anywhere near them. I certainly wouldn’t want him to be anywhere near me on a range. Actually, I wouldn’t want to be anywhere near such a range. Maybe not in the same county…

You have more accessory options on an AR-15 as opposed to a handgun. There are different stocks and grips to make the rifle more comfortable to shoot. Your shooting can improve with all the different optics or combinations. You can experiment with a variety of lasers, flashlights, red dots, riflescopes, and different types of iron sights to determine what works best for you.
Overall, I am more accurate with a rifle and recoil doesn’t bother me as much on the AR-15 as some handguns. For those without much upper body strength, who have problems racking a slide on a semi-auto handgun or are sensitive to recoil—all of which I hear from women shooters—will find they don’t have these issues with an AR-15.
Joe Biden told us, “You don’t need and AR-15, it’s harder to aim. It’s harder to use… buy a shotgun!” On the contrary, Mr. Biden, those women in the media defending the AR-15 are right. The AR-15 is the perfect defense weapon for a woman.

This kind of makes the entire gun control movement seem even more like a joke. You want our guns? We won’t have to shoot, we’ll just drive you back with thrown dodgeballs.
I’d just add that for those of us who live in densely populated areas, a 20 gauge shotgun even for women with the somewhat new self defense rounds is safer than all bullets on the neighbors if you miss and your shot goes through your window and across the street to your neighbor’s window. The pellets will spread and lose power over distance better than bullets. That stops me from getting a S&W weighted barrel .357 mag. Mossberg has an 8 shot 20 gauge and pump shot guns are easily reloaded per shot fast while the AR for rural people is fast that way for a different reason if you ever reach 30 shots at all.

Other than “where do all these right wing whackos all get the same rhetoric”, I really have gotten no reply from democrats, autocrats, or any “left wing whacko crats,” to these WHY questions : Why do Power People need to be surrounded by men with guns, their guns, ammo, and salaries paid for by me with my tax dollars? Why do they merit this protection, but not me and my grandchildren? Why don’t these statist totalitarians go ahead and amend the Constitution according to the method constitutionally prescribed in the Constitution in its own words? And -big why-if you can do an end run around the Constitution in the name of “common sense” restrictions on a constitutionally guaranteed right, why can we not have “common sense” restrictions on that sacred cherished “absolute” court-created “right to an abortion” – like common sensically insuring that all child killing is done to insure the medical safety of the mothers? Instead of saying as it is in the democrat platform that all restrictions on this right to death will be opposed.
