Yep

Cupich

Oakes Spalding at Mahound’s Paradise brings us the latest folly from Chicago’s Archbishop Blase Cupich’s apparently endless cornucopia of idiocy:

Yesterday, Archbishop Blase Cupich wrote a letter to ANGLO–the Archdiocesan Gay and Lesbian Outreach at Our Lady of Mount Carmel–referencing the Orlando terrorist attack (full text below). He did not mention Islam, radical Islam, ISIS or even the words “terrorist” or “terrorism.” Rather, he called it a “senseless, horrific and preventable tragedy.” However, in just four short paragraphs he did find space to explicitly mention or allude to at least ten of his pet political causes:
  1. Lesbian and gay rights
  2. Hate (in general)
  3. Intolerance (in general)
  4. Allowing hate and intolerance to flourish (perhaps by voting for Trump or whatever)
  5. The culture of violence
  6. Gun control
  7. Mental Illness (as far as I know he is the first to try this angle)
  8. The duty of a compassionate society to provide adequate social services, among other things to prevent tragedies like this
  9. Solidarity and peace
  10. Changing our nation and our world for the better

“I stand with you,” claimed the Archbishop to the gay community. I disagree. Cupich stands for no one but himself. If he really stood with gays, he wouldn’t be in effect collaborating with an ideology that wants to kill them. And he wouldn’t be making political speeches over their corpses.

The man is a complete embarrassment–not merely as a bishop, but as a human being.

Go here to read the rest.  Go here to read more about Cupich.  Cupich is a perfect representative of the current pontificate: a knee-jerk leftist who is worse than useless in being a real shepherd to his people and who inhabits a land of ideological make believe.

It is hard to witness how these “progressives” process facts through their ideological filter to arrive at their ssenseless conclusions. It’s harder yet to watch their pathological compulsion to share their warped views. I read Bishop Lynch’s statement yesterday sharing his thoughts on moral equivalency:

“Second, sadly it is religion, including our own, which targets, mostly verbally, and also often breeds contempt for gays, lesbians and transgender people. Attacks today on LGBT men and women often plant the seed of contempt, then hatred, which can ultimately lead to violence. Those women and men who were mowed down early yesterday morning were all made in the image and likeness of God. We teach that. We should believe that. We must stand for that. Without yet knowing who perpetrated the PULSE mass murders, when I saw the Imam come forward at a press conference yesterday morning, I knew that somewhere in the story there would be a search to find religious roots. While deranged people do senseless things, all of us observe, judge and act from some kind of religious background. Singling out people for victimization because of their religion, their sexual orientation, their nationality must be offensive to God’s ears. It has to stop also.” [end]

“Conservatives deal with facts and reach conclusions; liberals have conclusions and sell them as facts.” Bookworm Room blog
.
FYI – Tragedy is, for example, a tornado destroys your house. Evil (which must be confronted) is, for example, a Muslim (declared allegiance to ISIS) kills 50 people.
.
Apparently, the only evil/guilt these imbeciles recognize is collective guilt. So, you and I are guilty of this massacre. It feeds the vast left-wing conspiracy.
.
Here are some of the organizations that turn such massacres to their benefit: Democrat Party, The Coalition to Criminalize Gun Owners, The Coalition to Destroy the NRA; The Coalition to Stop the Church; The Coalition to Bury the Putrid Corpse of Liberty, et al.
.
Soon enough on Sunday the “Coalition to End Gun Violence” broadcast the usual propaganda.
.
We need a “Coalition to End Muslim Violence.” And, it needs to be heavily populated from the million of peace-loving Muslims about which Obama and Hillary continually lie.

Cupich and Lynch are twits. Their comments are excessively stupid. No wonder that ex Catholics will soon outnumber Catholics in the US. I refuse to follow fools.
Homosexualism and Islam are NOT compatible.

“Senseless” is a sure tell that you are dealing with wilful blindness, in this context.

Spaulding misrepresented the letter.

Not mentioned or alluded to:
– Lesbian and gay rights
– The duty of a compassionate society to provide adequate social services, among other things to prevent tragedies like this

Not even hinted at:
– voting for Trump or whatever

I don’t agree with some of the bishop’s comments about gun control, but other than those, you’re basically left with a letter of condolence. I mean, talking about hate and mental illness in response to a shooting isn’t exactly shocking.

Thanx, Pinky. It was a helluva ride for two months, but I’m glad it’s over. The big parade is on Wednesday.
Six years ago, my son actually touched the Stanley Cup! It was on display, no touching allowed. Didn’t stop him.

Two months of playoffs. Yeesh! The NBA is just as bad. I’m glad they discontinued baseball a few years ago, so no one has to watch it. (Wait, did they really do that, or is it still around?) For me, the sports season ends with the Superbowl and doesn’t start up until the NFL pre-season.

What he did not mention is the cause: Islamist terrorists waging jihad against Christians all around the globe. He should take his head out of ____ once in a while. Many of our Bishops are complete disappointments. St Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle!

Meanwhile……Poland has experienced NO recent Islamic terror attacks……..and NO Polish bishops have made conciliatory rhetoric to homosexuality or Islam…….wonder why?

Thanks for the shoutout, Donald. It may not be my place to comment but I can’t help myself.

First of all, Pinky, my name is “Spalding” not “Spaulding.” I don’t want to sound overly sensitive or anything, but there’s a big difference. We’re the sports guys. Albert G. Spalding, my great-great something or other, was a Hall of Fame pitcher for Boston and Chicago, and President of the National League. He then founded the sporting goods company. As for the “u” Spauldings, it is best that we do not speak of them.

Obviously the Trump thing was a joke (hence the parentheses).

As for “gay and lesbian rights,” you don’t think that letter (written to the Archdiocesan Gay and Lesbian Outreach founded by Cardinal Bernardin) had anything to do with gay and lesbian rights? Are you serious?

Look, Cupich is a wind-up doll. God could destroy the world and Cupich would crawl out of the wreckage and lecture the survivors on tax cuts and racism, or whatever. But I think people that have followed him or have seen him celebrate Mass or come into professional contact with him have noticed something more than just a knee-jerk liberal. The man is ruthless. I don’t think he’s “really” a liberal any more than I think he’s “really” a Catholic. But he’s very good at sensing where the center of power is at any given moment, and how he can use that to his advantage.

And as I stated in my post, the chance that he really cares about gays is about the same as the chance that he really cares about his flock. Of course he doesn’t. Everything is an act with him.

Sorry Spalding. The type is small on this site, and I’m not in the habit of using my glasses.

I thought the Trump line was a cheap shot, and whatever the archbishop’s opinion on gay rights, he didn’t allude to them in this letter.

You and Doug are right that he does mention the need for social services. I took the phrase “social services” to mean something specifically governmental, which he doesn’t refer to. But if I’m going to be fussy about stuff like that, the least I could do is to be correct.

I didn’t find the letter bad (although a more careful consideration of gun issues wouldn’t hurt), but I don’t know Archbishop Cupich, and I probably don’t want to know anything about AGLO.

1. At Sunday Mass our priest simply said, “Let us pray for the victims of the terrorist attack
in Orlando”. Seems to me that’s sentence is all that’s needed.

According to several sources Omar Mateen, though outwardly homophobic, was gay.
He used gay apps and was a regular at Pulse. If gay on gay crime is treated like black on black crime, perhaps this massacre will have a short life in the media.

we should be praying for our enemies as well as their victims.

if archbishop cupich and bishop lynch are our enemies, pray for them.

if violent muslims are our enemies, pray for them.

if the public promoters of sexual perversions are our enemies pray for them.

pray for the employees and leaders of planned parenthood, whose promotion and performance of abortions make them most certainly the enemies of the youngest and most innocent among us.

i wonder if maybe some of our problems in this world are because we are not praying enough for our enemies?

Eddie too, Excellent point. I’m certainly guilty of forgetting to pray for the enemies of our religion and nation.

Eddie two…..Jesus told us to forgive our enemies and pray for them. He was silent on the issue of letting them walk all over you, or kill you and you family and brutally suppress the Church in the process (Islam).

Poland has never bought into that thinking. To their benefit.

Praying for your enemies does not mean that one rolls over. Praying the prayer to St. Michael after Sunday Mass years ago was for the conversion of Russia, but we certainly didn’t disarm.

“The duty of a compassionate society to provide adequate social services…” Then send the bill to Society. I will warn though that my daughter hasn’t the money to pay for Archbishop Cupich’s social gospel fantasies.
