A Prayer

O Father in Heaven,

Today we stand at a crossroads, and we ask humbly for Your guidance.  We pray for the graces to discern with open eyes and a clear understanding of Your intent for us this day.  Help us to be humble, to not let overweening pride or human ideology come between us and Your holy plan.  Let not our will, but Yours be done in this election, and provide us with the strength and courage to face the future regardless of the outcome.  Let the charity in our hearts never die; may our faith in You never wane; may our hope never extinguish.

O Lord, we know that all deeds are incorporated into Your plan, and that, because of our sins and hardness of heart, You have permitted us to see the fullness of evil that comes from our sins.  But You sent Your only Son, not to save us from cruel tyrany or restore earthly kingdoms, but to redeem our sins and open the way to the Kingdom of Heaven.  Yet we pray that You bless this nation and provide her citizens with the grace to follow You, no matter how difficult the adversity.  We ask that you bless our candidates for office, that they may be strengthened in faith, hope, and charity, prudence, temperance, fortitude, and justice.  We pray that they govern according to Your will, whether as president or simply as senator, representative, secretary, or clerk.

And we pray:

Our Father, who art in Heaven
Hallowed be Thy name
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done
On earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
And forgive us our trespasses
As we forgive those who trespass against us,
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.

Amen

Great prayer…

This is what I have been thinking all day for our country..

Deuteronomy 30:19 – 20

“I call heaven and earth to witness this day, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing. Choose therefore life, that both thou and thy seed may live: And that thou mayst love the Lord thy God, and obey his voice, and adhere to him (for he is thy life, and the length of thy days,) that thou mayst dwell in the land, for which the Lord swore to thy fathers Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob that he would give it them.”

Lord have mercy on us.

Many Catholics across the country are praying, holding Rosary vigils, Eucharistic adoration, and fasting.

I’m surprised that you seem ‘surprised’?

Are you Catholic?

Our council of Knights arranged an hour of Eucharistic adoration last night to pray for the outcome of the election and for wisdom for the voters. The next parish over had 24 hours of adoration from 6am on the 3rd to 6am this morning.

“Looks like our country chose death….”

We will see how it chooses in 2010 and 2012.
