“I’m saving her for Ginsburg.“
President Trump when contemplating who to nominate when Justice Kennedy retired in 2018, and referring to Judge Barrett.
Amy Coney Barrett has just been confirmed by the Senate as an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court. She will be sworn in by Justice Clarence Thomas at the White House this evening at 8:00 PM CDT. In one term President Trump has appointed three Supreme Court Justices, the same that President Reagan had in two terms. Obama in two terms had two. Glory to God!
Having Justice Clarence Thomas swear her in will hopefully be a foreshadowing of how she will vote on the Court. Considering the hell that Joe Biden put him through during his confirmation 29 years ago, I am sure the possible ramifications of the new justice in election litigation has not escaped the notice of Justice Thomas and makes his duty tonight doubly sweet.
And it is done:

Well, this is rubbing the salt in the wounds a bit, but I admit, I laughed when I saw it:

@JudiciaryGOP
Amy Coney Barrett, confirmed. Happy Birthday, @HillaryClinton!
Why won’t Chief Justice Roberts swear Amy in?
Weren’t Thomas and Scalia good friends? He was friends with Ginsberg, too– so symbolically, very powerful.
Might also be that he doesn’t have young kids at home, so he’s in the office.
Normally the nominee chooses who to swear her in. There are two oaths and the second one will probably be administered by Roberts.
The origin of the second oath is found in the Judiciary Act of 1789, which reads “the justices of the Supreme Court, and the district judges, before they proceed to execute the duties of their respective offices” to take a second oath or affirmation. From 1789 to 1990, the original text used for this oath (1 Stat. 76 § 8) was:
“I, _________, do solemnly swear or affirm that I will administer justice without respect to persons, and do equal right to the poor and to the rich, and that I will faithfully and impartially discharge and perform all the duties incumbent upon me as _________, according to the best of my abilities and understanding, agreeably to the constitution and laws of the United States. So help me God.”
In December 1990, the Judicial Improvements Act of 1990 replaced the phrase “according to the best of my abilities and understanding, agreeably to the Constitution” with “under the Constitution.” The revised Judicial Oath, found at 28 U. S. C. § 453, reads:
“I, _________, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will administer justice without respect to persons, and do equal right to the poor and to the rich, and that I will faithfully and impartially discharge and perform all the duties incumbent upon me as _________ under the Constitution and laws of the United States. So help me God.”
Thomas and Scalia were good friends. Barrett was a clerk for Scalia and she probably met Thomas then.
I’m guessing a non-zero chance of lawyer-type fangirling, too. 😀
He will probably be one of her mentors. I don’t care how bright you are, joining the Court is a very big step.
I hope there is tight security around her and her family, and around the Kavanaugh, Alito, and Thomas households as well. We live in wretched times.
God willing, we live to see her as Chief Justice.
God bless all in her house.
God bless us, everyone. &
God bless America.

No clue. Do notice that Justice Thomas is the dean of the court.
Today was a good day. Not tired of all the winning.
And people say President Trump is not considerate. He gave Hillary Clinton the perfect birthday present.
Justice Thomas is the dean of the court.
That is, the senior most Associate Justice, H
having served 29 years after being confirm on October 23rd, 1991.
It would be interesting to know how many of the Senators who voted on his confirmation are still active in politics.
Joe Biden for one. Grassley for another. Leahy, McConnell, and Shelby. Thomas has been on the Supreme Court longer than Feinstein’s been in the Senate.
Shelby voted for Thomas as a Democrat, and ACB as a Republican.
(Guess I answered my own question)
If you want to make the heads of your liberal friends, family, acquaintances, co-workers explode, tell ’em this glorious victory for the Republic of Gilead would not have been possible but for the groundwork laid by three Democrats: Joe Biden, Harry Reid, and Chuck Schumer.
Then tell ’em they should contemplate this on the Tree of Woe.
Chief Justice Roberts will administer another oath for Justice Barrett Tuesday at the Supreme Court.
He will probably be one of her mentors. I don’t care how bright you are, joining the Court is a very big step.

The democrats disappointed me! I expected a horrific, last minute accusation (similar to Kavanaugh) against her…
