A Third of a Century Ago: Encounter at Farpoint

My bride and I eagerly watched this, although truth be told I found it bloated and fairly unentertaining.  The only Q episode I found boring.  The giant space jellyfish rank up there with the giant killer poodles from one of the Hulk movies as the most absurd science fiction creations.  However, it started a creative Trek television resurgence that would go on almost two decades.

I can happily say that I only watched it that first time.
McCoy was good and a nice connect to the past. I do remember reading that Shatner kidded Kelly saying that he could rest assured that his character would survive in the movies they were making.

Let’s just say that Sisko got me on his side with one punch, many years later. 😀

For the chance of new Trek, and for McCoy being there, I could’ve forgiven pretty much anything!
