The El Paso PD arrested a suspect named Isiah Cantrell in connection with the vandalism. I read that the man told police that the statue of Christ had the “wrong” skin color.
KTRE TV posted the Diocese website for those who wish to contribute to a fund for repair/purchase of the 90 y.o. statue. It’s valued $25,000. Several parishioners and the vicar on camera expressed the importance of the statue to the worship community, and as Christians do, said they are praying for Cantrell.
Not sure in big city markets if the vandalism would even have been noted on air. Hat tip to Black Lives Matter, the racist Democratic party, Antifa for encouraging such vandalism. They have camera footage of Cantrell in the act. Doubt that he’ll serve 10 years as he looks like he has mental health issues.
“Such a sad sign of our times…” Well, the adults in the room certainly share some measure of responsibility. This is what happens when any society raises and continuously coddles snow flakes.

This is Cantrell’s fifth arrest in September. Other charges included assault, resisting arrest, and drug possession charges.

The “forgiveness”– without a hint of repentance or even attempt to help a guy who frankly looks to have serious mental issues, though who knows if they’re organic, pot or bad training– is also pretty standard.
Main thing I’m surprised about is that this happened at Saint Patrick’s– I’d expect it to be at the parish that offers Latin masses, it’s in a worse area, and seems like it would be closer to the county lockup. We drove past the Cathedral when the Contessa was in the NICU.
