U.S.—Democrats have proposed a new debate format they find acceptable: one where Joe Biden is tied up backstage with his mouth duct-taped shut.
“This is the only fair way to do it,” said a DNC spokesperson. “To allow our candidate to speak would simply be an unfair advantage to the candidate who has some semblance of rational thought left in his brain. Besides, we’re trying to win here. Tying up our candidate and stuffing a sock in his mouth has been shown to improve his poll numbers significantly.”
The format will feature Trump just shouting at an empty podium while Biden is safely secured by his handlers backstage. Moderators can ask Biden questions, but he will only be able to respond with muffled grunts from somewhere behind the curtain. Trump is expected to respond to Biden’s two minutes of silence by saying, “Wrong!” and “Sad!” over and over again.
Go here to read the rest. The usual suspects on the Left have been calling for Biden to back out of the debates. They want Biden, with good reason, to remain in his bunker through election day. Assuming that his dementia is progressive in nature, an almost certain bet, and assuming that Biden is worse behind the scenes than in public, I think there is now a chance the Biden campaign might cancel the debates. The problem for the Democrats, as in 2016, is that they believe the polls and they think Biden is well ahead. I think they are mistaken and that Biden has a national three point advantage, at best, around the nation. If the Biden campaign does cancel the debates, it will probably be a last minute cancellation, right before the first scheduled debate on September 29th, so they can see how the polls are at that time, and how Biden is doing in private. If they could, the Democrats would substitute another candidate for Biden, but the people surrounding Biden, especially his wife, would never agree to it, and Bernie Sanders, the poor man’s Lenin, would expect to be the replacement. Fun times for Team Biden.
Here’s one way to play it. Joe comes down with the Virus 3 days before the debate. Hillary, his running mate, will offer to debate Trump.
TV will feature Joe being taken to the hospital, accompanied by his wife and Hillary, where he will spend two weeks. He will be taken home to rest after issuing a statement about his suffering but expected a slow but total recovery.
Hillary will campaign for Joe on the need for America to become compassionate and caring. Love will be her message.
There won’t be debates. Covid makes it too “dangerous.”
Either that, or the only format under which the Biden people will debate (Trump in his studio, Biden in his batty-cave, moderator(s) in a 3rd studio) won’t be acceptable to Trump’s people.
In which, case the media will dutifully report it’s Trump who’s afraid to debate Biden.
The problem with you’re theory, Michael, is Hillary only works for Hillary.
And I don’t see Dr. Jill inviting Hillary aboard the Biden express.
