The most elementary function of any government is protecting its constituents. In Blue America the politicians increasingly perceive their constituents to be criminals and Leftist mobs like Antifa and Black Lives Matter. Ordinary citizens are to pay for this bad comedy and do as they are told, not only by the politicians but by criminals and armed Leftist groups. Anarchy to be followed by authoritarianism, courtesy of one party Democrat rule.
This phenomenon should have caused widespread revulsion against the Democratic Party. It appears to have had no effect at all. This will not end well.
We need an honest poll to find out what most normal people think is happening to our country now. Doubtful it would be initiated, or if available, published by the MSM.

I tend to take this same view. The problem is that it’s going down on Trump’s watch. People thought they were electing Trump to stem the tide. Instead, out position has steadily eroded, arguably at a faster pace, since his election.

I tend to be with Art and Jay. Yes, we are still three months out from the election, and I think there will still be a shy voter effect.
But three months isn’t a lot of time.
Biden being forced to speak at the debates will help, and he might pick a really divisive running mate who isn’t ready for prime time.
And the shy voter effect will move a percentage point–maybe two– in a few spots. It won’t erase the margins Biden is up now.
Frankly, I’ve been stunned by how inert the public has been in the face of violence and iconoclasm. Granted, the media is doing its DNC-damnedest to make sure you don’t see the ugly, but the net evens the playing field a bit.
I think the reality is Trump fatigue meeting Generic Democrat who was once known as a moderate. The reality is that the ex-moderate will be no more than a sockpuppet for a super-charged third Obama Term, but people who are tired don’t make good long term decisions. They just want to rest.
And America seems really tired right now, down to her spiritual bones.
Shooting deaths in Minneapolis are up by over 100 compared to previous years. And considering that shootings were on a normal pace before the George Floyd riots, the increase will probably accelerate throughout the year.
In regard to Trump and polls, I was skeptical in 2016 and I am skeptical now as to their ability to capture the strength of this most highly unusual candidate. For what little it is worth, Rasmussen has him today at 51% approval, and a poll in the Sunday Express has him ahead of Biden nationally and way ahead in the battleground states.

The polls were way off base in 2016. There are certainly reasons that this happened (differences in who is available/willing to answer polls, intentional oversampling, dishonest question framing, etc.) The biggest reason is that polling agencies started to see themselves less as information outlets than propaganda outlets.
The thing is, none of those reasons have went away since 2016. If anything they have intensified.
Just hand over your wallet and do whatever you’re told—- it’s interesting that the Minneapolis City Government has the same advice for crime victims as it does for voters…
