More precisely, hostility to blacks is not important in mundane life or in public life either. Among professional-managerial people outside the South, it’s been outre for two generations or more. Among Southerners of that description, it has been so in public settings for 40+ years. Jesse Helms was considered Darth Vader by standard-issue Democrats. They had to throw the ‘dog-whistle’ bs at him because they didn’t have any actual vicious remarks they could use, and he’d been a local television news director and commentator ca. 1960.
The real question is what is the meaning of the surface controversy, given that the superficial discussion is blatant nonsense.
The very minute this country elected our first black president, the Democratic cry was “This Country is Racist.”

I don’t recall anything of much significance in Obama’s first few years in office. First the Zimmerman case in Orlando and then the Brown case in St. Louis were occasions of vicious rubbish. The Holder JustUs Department was a minor character in those dramas, however. Some of us were made aware of a unit of the JustUs Department which exists to promote the faculty-culture nonsense view of race relations in this country (I think it’s called the ‘Community Relations Service’ or some such). It would be agreeable if it were eliminated, but Republican pols never seem to get around to taking out the trash.
As for BO, recall Gov. Blagojevich’s comment: “I’m blacker than Obama”. Obama’s connection to the domestic black population is that he married into it. He has black friends, but they’re drawn from the mulattish old-money patriciate in the black population; nothing wrong with that, but that segment differs in important ways from the rank-and-file and from the affluent striver element as well. His grandaddy’s chum Frank Marshall Davis was another friend, but Davis was another eccentric on a number of axes. When he joined a black Church, he didn’t attend a normal AME or Convention Baptist congregation; he joined Jeremiah Wright’s political Africanisant outfit (a congregation Oprah Winfrey had sampled and rejected). Obama’s a higher ed apparatchik at heart, a deputy dean of students.
If a white man wrote that, he’d be a racist.

It’s all good, though. They’ve (control of public education) brainwashed several generations into idiots.

Again, the notion that ‘bad cops’ are a problem is The Narrative. The Narrative in our time is generally false, and this narrative certainly is.

Have noticed that the main demographic of protesters are brainwashed college educated young white women filled with emotion…. It’s true that women have a natural religiosity.
The more virulent form of racism today is racism against whites. Whites are being told to get on their knees and apologize for being white. Someone explain how that’s not racist.

T Shaw. I’ve said that for several years now. Take a speech from Germany in the 30s, scratch out the word ‘Jew’, replace with ‘White’, Really. I’ve seen things said today that are reminiscent of statements from that period I’ve read and heard. Seeing the speed with which so many, including religious leaders, are jumping on board with these assumptions does answer a few questions we’ve always had about those people marching around Nuremberg back in the day.
Whites are being told to get on their knees and apologize for being white.
What Eleanor Roosevelt said: no one can make you feel inferior without your consent. We’ve reached the point where people of pallor should stop putting blood on the water by uttering platitudes (Mike Pence I’m looking at you) and just state their position without apology. The Ratcheds in HR cannot fire all of us if there’s enough noncompliance.

T. Shaw, I’ve seen folks insist that he is white, because…drumroll…. he “acts white.”
Thus, he’s an “oreo.”
How insanely racist it is to insist that a guy who acts like a dignified, educated Christian can thus not be black, somehow escapes them.
Maybe the whole “content of their character” thing isn’t enough for the modern activists because they’re afraid they’ll fall short of the mark.

Seven of the eight comments were positive, but one enraged black activist (judging by his Instagram page) wrote “Thomas Sowell is a self hating black man…we call him ‘Uncle Thom’.”

I have way too much time on my hands. And, I’m too old for this [expletive deleted].
I use ‘black lives matter’ in place of the N-word. When I was overseas, we used a code word when referring to the useless black lives matter.
Apparently, in July 2016, this narrative was also being played. Here’s a quote from Bookroom Worm blog re: black lives matter.
