Cute. The fasting rules of the Eastern Churches, if strictly followed, are approaching vegan, however.

Pretty sure vegans have no nutritional value.

Ernst: Yep, similar to wolfing down a Twinkie! Lots of carbs and no fat or protein. 🙂

Have always had an issue fasting from meat on Fridays, I love seafood so much more it does not seem like a fast at all, but rather a feast. A disciplined -feast.

Eating a vegan is a contradiction—yet not a bad idea as it enhances environmental sustainability. And for Conservatives it reduces the Liberal population. Something to think about.

@David W
.
Yes, it seems the Latin Rite should update the Lenten Fasting rules. There is something wrong if I may eat scallops saute’d in olive oil at a pricey restaurant, but not a Happy Meal at McDonald’s on a Friday.
.
And now we have the “Impossible” meat-a person could have his Happy Meal and have Lent too (assuming they do not like Lox and Bagels).
.
If Rome wants to look at disciplines to update, this is a worthy cause; a married priesthood, not so much, not at this time.

Who would want to eat s vegan anyway? They don’t have enough vitamin B-12.

I will never allow myself to be intimidated by self righteous vegans, who think we should all respect animals to the point of refraining from killing them. I do know a few who believe themselves above others because of their perceived higher moral stance of not eating meat etc…while I am lacking in compassion for eating it. I look at it this way: God gave people fowl to eat when they complained in the desert during the Exodus. Jesus showed Peter and his companions where to drop their nets and got the biggest catch of fish in their careers. Jesus even prepared breakfast of grilled fish on the beach for his followers after the resurrection. The kingdom of God is like the father who celebrated his lost sons’ return with a fatted calf and at least at every Passover the Israelites ate an unblemished lamb. Milk and honey was acceptable as were locusts. The vegans argument that the eating of meat, milk and it’s by-products is being unethical is not with omnivores like me, but with God.

I love seafood too which is why I may make a seafood dish in the most simplistic of ways in order to stop short of making a gourmet meal.

The arch-enemy of the humility required to enter Paradise seems to be “sophistication”–the same virus that contaminates Vegans, Gnostics, and rebellious angels.
