Quartermaster General Erich Ludendorff, de facto commander of the Imperial German army, issued this terse statement on August 4, 1918:
Foch’s plan was undoubtedly to cut off the entire arc of our front south of the Aisne by a breakthrough on the flank. But with the proved leadership of our Seventh and Ninth Armies that was quite impossible.
We figured with an attack on July 18th and were prepared for it. The enemy experienced very heavy losses, and the Americans and African auxiliary troops, which we do not underestimate, suffered severely.
By the afternoon of the 19th we already were fully masters of the situation and shall remain so. We left the abandoned ground to the enemy according to our regular plan.
“Gain of ground” and “Marne” are only catchwords without importance for the issue of the war.
We are now, as before, confident.
Privately Ludendorff knew that the initiative on the Western Front had passed from the Germans to the Allies. What the Allies would do with that initiative would soon be revealed to Ludendorff.
An atheist imbued with Prussian philosophy. “Peace is an interval between wars”. The majority of the German people then were Christians. With true Peace comes Prosperity. Of course the Marshall Plan put Germany on a path to prosperity.
This clown sent Lenin to Russia in order to get Russia out of the war.
The History Channel’s series about WWI said he began the “Stabbed in the Back By the Jews” excuse for why Germany lost the war.
He is not wrong in his evaluation, only disastrously wrong in his conclusion.
Christianity is unavoidably Jewish. Neither Jesus or the twelve were gentiles! Perhaps his objection was that none of them were Prussian…
Christianity is certainly international. Christ told the disciples to seek converts in all nations. Of course, with modernism skulking about already in his day, the socialist internationalism may have what he was referring to. If so, it is cancerous, and (currently) quite pronounced.
Christianity does preach peace on earth, but knows it is unachievable except through Christ. Some in Ludendorff’s day (and droves in our day) preached peace at all costs and falsely attribute the concept to Christianity. Peace at the cost of Truth is usually only slavery to tyrants, which might not have been objectionable to Ludendorff after all.
Let us hope that “I decline” was not Erich’s final answer.
The Germans have always liked pagans. Nothing’s changed.
Christianity preaches “Peace on earth to men of good will.” Those of evil will will go to hell.
Christianity preaches the Just War theory and Justice, that is giving each man what he truly deserves.
As with all hatred, Truth is misunderstood.
When Kraft took George Hormel’s recipe for Spam, Hormel won in court. Then Hormel took Kraft on as a partner with his whole company.
Millions of cans of Spam fed the Philippines, Germany and Japan, since only widows and orphans remained.
Kraft invented processed cheese which had a very long shelf life compared to fresh cheese.
Kraft macaroni and cheese, Velveeta, slices. They fill the grocery store.
Hormel was a wise business man.
George Marshall was a wise and compassionate General.
May God bless America
