Invading America is a Very, Very Bad Idea

Shall we expect some transatlantic military giant, to step the Ocean, and crush us at a blow? Never!–All the armies of Europe, Asia and Africa combined, with all the treasure of the earth (our own excepted) in their military chest; with a Buonaparte for a commander, could not by force, take a drink from the Ohio, or make a track on the Blue Ridge, in a trial of a thousand years.

Should hostilities once break out between Japan and the United States, it is not enough that we take Guam and the Philippines, nor even Hawaii and San Francisco. To make victory certain, we would have to march into Washington and dictate the terms of peace in the White House. I wonder if our politicians, among whom armchair arguments about war are being glibly bandied about in the name of state politics, have confidence as to the final outcome and are prepared to make the necessary sacrifices.

Why invade when indoctrination and political correctness costs so few lives and conquers an enemy who eagerly surrenders with naïve glee?

I think China could do it. Imagine a few hundred million men who can’t find a wife because the girls in their country have been aborted. Might as well join the military…like endless waves of Stormtroopers…

No wonder the totalitarians of America want the peasants to have no guns. Why didn’t the Japanese invade California in 1942? Guy McClung, Texas

Even if you can declare China gets their guys to an American shore, in good condition with at least basic gear– let’s hand-wave that they hire a huge fleet of cruise ships and arrive in a port of your choice, WITH all the land-war gear, and we’ll GIVE them that entire port and city (that would be San Diego proper, for an example, but not Chula Vista, Spring Valley or Del Mar)– they still have choke points to get out of there, assuming the freeway isn’t covered with abandoned cars or similar issues.

And once they get out of that city, they have miles and miles of city to fight through.

And then they have dozens to hundreds of miles of nothing. Most of it steep and the stuff that isn’t steep is full of armed farmers. A LOT of them are prior military…..and they have heavy equipment.

Great video and song. Besides being the 7th Calvary’s marching music, it has importance to my family. After leaving Ireland, my Great Grand parents all settled in Garry Owen, Iowa. Many family members are buried at St. Patrick’s Church. I hope to visit it some day.

Don L has it right – why would anyone invade militarily when there is absolutely no need to. Much cheaper, easier and more certain to just buy our politicians.

The Chinese are still CHI-COMS.
Industrial espionage is a worry as is military espionage. Remember when Democratic administrations were complicit? Ignoring China’s growing blue water navy and it’s militarization of strategic artificial islands? Idiots.
The pundits are saying Xi Jinping wants to do away with term limits and become the new Emperor. That his goal is for China to be the #1 power; have the West come to China not the other way around.

Talk about litotes! Two thousand miles of tundra, steppe and desert to cross, carrying every morsel of of food and every drop of water and petrol with them, before reaching the natural defensive barrier of the Appalachians and the beginnings of civilisation.

If all those rone-ry Chi-Coms are looking for an outlet for all that pent up male aggression, Siberia is a lot closer to hand than Los Angeles.

How do you say Lebensraum in Mandarin anyways?

Notice the “e” in Dream through Ohio and Pennsylvania? That “e” signifies a lot of people with firearms….my neighbors…..

China lacks the capacity to supply, feed and fuel a military force halfway around the world. They have little of their own energy. Nothing can change that.

It’s great and all that no one can invade us and our ‘merican gun-owners would defend the land, but so what? Except for immediate neighbors, land invasion and occupation is so 20th Century. Wouldn’t economic warfare be much better? Stop buying and dump US T-bills, and make the yuan the reserve currency. Done!

reading this a Trump quote came back to me: “we will be protected by God!” !!! I love it. He said that in his inaugural speech.

“There should not be fear,” Trump said Jan. 20. “We are protected and we will always be protected. We will be protected by the great men and women of our military and law enforcement, and, most important, we will be protected by God.” http://www.catholicsun.org/2017/01/20/trump-inaugural-address/

For all folks complain about the US, they’re not stupid enough to trust China more.

Stop buying and dump US T-bills…

Ceasing to buy US T-bills, that would hurt but fortunately the economic pain would ramp up very slowly. There would be time for American voters and the Congress they elect to come around to economic reality and act decisively to resolve the matter.

Dumping US T-bills would create short term pain but would be a long term win for the USA. Crashing the price of US Treasury bonds would allow the Federal Reserve and the US Treasury Department to snap ’em up for a song, retiring US debt for pennies on the dollar without ever risking a default on the debt itself. If China tried that, it would be an own goal.
