Something for the weekend: Three stages of a Catholic hymn. Of course there is a fourth stage of a Catholic hymn: the sound of the Congregation singing any song that hasn’t been beaten to death thousands of time over the past four decades in the parish:

Anyone who would expect a typical Catholic congregation to sing like this is crazy.
That’s what I thought PF! My wife leads the singing at our Mass and anything new or complicated she sings alone!
one thing about though- “new” only stays new for so long. People can and do learn. Then it become old hat. (if i knew how I would insert a picture of a biretta here)
