I have the honor to share my birthday, number 65 today, with Ronald Reagan, the greatest president of my lifetime. The above video is a sample of why I also regard Reagan as the greatest American orator since Lincoln. Politicians come and go, but a statesman such as Reagan is a rare treasure indeed.
Ronald Reagan: The Price of Freedom
- Donald R. McClarey
Donald R. McClarey
Cradle Catholic. Active in the pro-life movement since 1973. Father of three, one in Heaven, and happily married for 43 years. Small town lawyer and amateur historian. Former president of the board of directors of the local crisis pregnancy center for a decade.
“a statesman such as Reagan is a rare treasure indeed.”
A very happy birthday to you, Mr. McClarey!
Birthday Blessings to you Donald! What a person to share your birthday with.
Agreed, and Happy Birthday to you, Don. You won the “share a President’s birthday” contest. I share mine with Richard Nixon, who wasn’t as bad as many say, but was bad enough that he couldn’t play in the same league with Ronaldus Magnus…nor could more than a small handful of others, from any country. And he was an Illinois product, too!
Thank you my friends. My clan is gathering for a nice noon time meal and I have to be able to read most of the day. A perfect day for me.
Happy Birthday Donald! You share a first name with another pretty good president.
Happy Birthday, Donald. It is entirely fitting that you and Ronald Reagan share the same day as your day of birth.
Have a blessed birthday Donald.
Enjoy the gathering in your honor.
No law mining today!
Peace.
Happy Birthday!
Enjoy.
Don, Since you have always spoke more wisely than me, I just assumed “older and wiser” was true. But I will be 75 next week. With this “Happy B Day” is a thank you, a Deo Gratias, for all that you do here-and note well-many many read what is here – because of your hard work – and they never comment-BUT what is here is helping bring them home to heaven with their Father. You done good. Guy, Texas
ps-I was born exactly 100 years after Thomas A Edison and his commemorative stamp was issued on my B d-ay.
pps-this is NOT a sin of superstition: but both of us being Aquarians probably explains a whole lot to those who have to live with us
As my ever-witty brother-in-law would quip annually on my birthday, “Wow, that’s a lot of candles.”
Have a great “B” day Don and many more.
Happy Birthday, Don, and many more. The next 27 years are the best (I speak from experience).
Happy birthday!
Happy birthday Don!
Happy Birthday Don, and many more! May God bless you today and always. I agree with Phil – no law mining today!
A gathering of family and a nice day to read sound like a wonderful birthday plan to me! Enjoy! Thank you for all that you do here for us with this blog – I try to check in every day.
Thank you my friends. I had a very nice day. Longevity does not run in my family so I feel blessed. I guess there is more work for me to do before God writes my exit from this Vale of Tears.
One more happy birthday wish…
from your Larry. Recalling a beautiful memory that touched our hearts;
Receiving Jesus in holy communion, doing his 360° with a smile of a child of God that knows only His love.
He is with you..today, tomorrow and forever. You will always know Larry’s love for you, for it’s beyond measure.
Peace be yours Mr. McClarey.
Peace and Love.
Happy Birthday to you. Thank you for your daily statesman-esque-ness.
Happy Birthday and many returns!
Happy Birthday! Wishing you many blessings throughout the year. Thank you for your blog!!
Birthday blessings!
