One Solitary Life

“There is no greater drama in human record than the sight of a few Christians scorned or oppressed by a succession of emperors, bearing all trials by a fierce tenacity, multiplying quietly, building order while their enemies generated chaos, fighting the sword with the Word, brutality with hope, and at last defeating the strongest state that history has ever know. Caesar and Christ had met in the arena and Christ had won.”

Will Durant, Caesar and Christ (1944)

All the armies that have ever marched All the navies that have ever sailed All the parliaments that have ever sat All the kings that ever reigned put together Have not affected the life of mankind on earth As powerfully as that one solitary life.

From One Solitary Life

I am an historian, I am not a believer, but I must confess as a historian that this penniless preacher from Nazareth is irrevocably the very center of history. Jesus Christ is easily the most dominant figure in all history.

H. G. Wells

O felix culpa quae talem et tantum meruit habere redemptorem

Merry Christmas to all you wonderful American Catholics!

The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light. For today is born unto us the Savior.

The Second Joyful Mystery, The Nativity, Desire the Love of God. Think of how Mary so lovingly accepted poverty as she placed the infant Jesus, our God and Redeemer, in a manger in the stable of Bethlehem.

The De La Salle Brothers of the Christian Schools would end each prayer with “Live Jesus in our hearts.” (Response) “Forever.”

Faith.

Have a joyous and blessed Christmas TAC. And the gift so generously given, handed down through generations, continues when you share your faith.
It continues when you give the very best. Give Jesus.
His generosity can never be outdone.

Peace.

I just got back from Mass. The parish was packed: angels, saints, even Christ Himself. Merry Christmas to all!

A hymn I’ve forgotten over the past ~ twelve years – something … (spoken to our Lord) … something – my heart, that it may be a quiet chamber kept for thee.
So, Merry Christmas to all here. And there.

Don and the TAC family: Merry Christmas and God’s blessings on all! Greetings from the other side of the planet where it is heading towards 88 degrees with blue skies and light winds (not the Christmas I grew up with!). I sent this to my entire mailing list – may it inspire them as much as it did me…May God save us and our Republic!

Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!
I know, it’s early here in the US Central time zone, but I love saying that. And a happy Boxing Day to our Canadian and British friends.

Patricia, there’s a poem by Martin Luther called “A Bed in My Heart” that has apparently been made into a hymn named after its first line “Ah Dearest Jesus Holy Child”. It’s set to a few different tunes on YouTube.
