Quite the hysterical reaction online from official Catholicism and Catholic, Inc to the news that Nidal Hasan, traitor and mass murderer, will be executed after 17 years, and that it may be live stream. The reaction betrays a mindset that seeks to memory hole inconvenient Catholicism. Discuss.

Not a few of the pundits and commentators clutching their pearls over the possibility that Hasan’s execution might be live streamed are the same people who replayed innocent Charlie Kirk’s assassination on endless loop and mocked him.
As for our hapless USCCB denouncing it as ‘barbaric’, I must say that I’ve long ago dismissed that organization’s credibility to speak out on Catholic morality. Why should I give a moment’s thought to what they say, after:
1). The child abuse scandal, and the coverups that persist,
2). The ongoing scandal of CCHD donations being given to pro-abortion/pro-same sex marriage groups, and years of the USCCB slow-walking any reforms,
3). The human trafficking and child trafficking that happened under cover of the USCCB’s services for illegal immigrants, for which the UCCCB was receiving enormous sums of taxpayer dollars, $130 million in 2023 alone. Tens of thousands—perhaps hundreds of thousands— of children are unaccounted for…
I maintain that the USCCB has little right to behave as though they have a scrap of moral credibility. I could not care less what they say about this Hasan execution— or anything else, for that matter.
