Justice delayed seventeen years. No one has been punished, so far as I know, for pushing this murderous incompetent up the ranks for fear of seeming anti-Muslim. The lives of the troops were sacrificed to protect the careers of higher ups who foisted a ticking time bomb on those who had the deadly misfortune of coming into contact with him.

The Modernist(s) went for the death penalty not out of concern, JPII had already said it should be very rare today, but out a deliberate method of conditioning the minds of people.

My suggestion for carrying out the sentence. Flying him up to 40,000 ft and escort him out of the plane. Give him time for an act of contrition or to yell Allahu Akbar all the way to the ground. 3 to 4 minutes according to my quick calculation assuming terminal velocity. And oh yeah. Televise it and beam it to Tehran via Skynet.
I wrote the following some time ago (using a variety of resources from the early Church Fathers to the notes in some of my Study Bibles) when considering the death penalty. While circumstances are totally different, I think in a way it applies here. Tell me, however, why can’t our clerics explain Sacred Scripture like this? Why don’t they at least read and explain what the Church Fathers wrote about these things? My questions are rhetorical.
There were prescribed punishments for rape and murder in the Old Testament. Deuteronomy 22:25-29 prescribes the death penalty for a man who raped a betrothed woman, and a command that in the case of an unbetrothed woman, he pay her father 50 silver shekels and marry her to care for her and any resulting child for the remainder of his life. This was mandated since in ancient cultures an unwed woman had no means of independent livelihood.

Knowing those two laws is necessary to understand King David’s failings in the whole story of Absolam’s revolt against his father. When Amnon raped his half sister Tamar in 2nd Samuel 13, David should have ordered Amnon to care for his sister for the remainder of his life and he didn’t. It was Absolam (her full brother) who took her into his house and cared for her. Imagine his resentment against his father the King!
And when Absolam arranged the vengeful and premeditated murder of Amnon, he should have been executed, but instead went into a three year exile under King Geshur of Ammon. Then in 2nd Samuel 14 he was recalled after King David was told a fabricated sob story by a widow who described two sons that fought and one was killed by the other who fled – a story inspired by David’s General Joab.
The result of this in 2nd Samuel 15:1-12 was Absolam elevating himself as King.

Pay attention to 2nd Samuel 14:25:

And pay attention also to 2nd Samuel 15:4-6:
4 Ab′salom said moreover, “Oh that I were judge in the land! Then every man with a suit or cause might come to me, and I would give him justice.” 5 And whenever a man came near to do obeisance to him, he would put out his hand, and take hold of him, and kiss him. 6 Thus Ab′salom did to all of Israel who came to the king for judgment; so Ab′salom stole the hearts of the men of Israel.
Absolam was the perfect modern-day politician! Handsome and full of promises to provide social justice and serve the common good! Thus, he set himself up in Hebron as the alternate (and supposedly “true”) King.
All this could have been avoided if King David had simply dealt firmly and decisively with his son Amnon. But he didn’t out of a misgotten sense of mercy (more like sentimentality), and thus, when out of “mercy” he spared Absolam from the required death penalty, he brought about the civil war that tore the nation apart.
Punishment for sin isn’t just about you and me, Folks. It’s about protecting society at large from the unintended consequences of disobeying God’s Laws.
Question: are they going to hang him, inject him, or give him the firing squad? As a traditionalist, I prefer the firing squad.
It took the clanking JAG machinery forty-five months to produce a trial verdict. For scale, see the situation in New York, ca. 1985. The median lapse of time between arrest and conviction for felony charges assessed at a full-dress trial was 13 months at that time. You now have four sets of appeals (which we might reduce to three). Appellate review has taken shy of 13 years when it should have taken no more than three years. Given the death toll and given the deaths occurred nowhere near a battlefield, a capital sentence should have been automatic and never litigated. This man should have been executed 12 years ago. Rope or firing squad.

By the accounts I’ve read, the military accommodated his post-secondary schooling and also financed his post baccalaureate schooling, allowing him to take the slow boat. After he slaughtered those people, some flag rank numbnutz yapped to the press that it would be a tragedy if this reduced the armed services’ ‘commitment to diversity’. This man was in uniform for 25 years and the milestones in his career occurred during both Republican and Democratic Administrations.
I realize the term “Military Justice” is regarded by many as an oxymoron but in this case the only short fall is the delay in carrying out the sentence. For Dalton: When I served it was carried out by hanging but I believe now everyone sentenced in the Federal system is by lethal injection.

God said to Moses, ‘I AM WHO I AM.’ This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I AM has sent me to you.’” This verse highlights God’s eternal and self-existent nature. God says: “I AM WHO IS” and in the Garden of Gethsemane Jesus says: “I AM HE.”

The death penalty is executed through the power of attorney of the condemned murderer. Therefore the death penalty is a done deal brought about by the murderer. The murderer can appeal until dooms day. The murderer’s fate is seal by his own free will choice. In hell the murderer is going to be a murderer for all eternity.

Sadly I report the death of Peter Cullen, the longtime voice actor best known as the voice of Optimus Prime.
The original Transformers was a cheesy cartoon that started when I was 21 and long past having toys. The way Cullen carried the lines of Optimus led to years of voicing the character. When Hasbro decided to bring out a new line of toys and wrote off Optimus in a movie, young boys left the theaters crying over his “death”. They brought Optimus back from the dead so many times nobody knows how often.
Cullen did the movies and the Transformers Prime series that was actually good television, as I watched it with my kids.
Cullen’s brother Larry told him to be a real hero, to be strong enough to be gentle, and not yelling and screaming. Cullen carried these words with him through his career voicing Optimus.
There have been and will be others who will voice the character, but nobody will replace Peter Cullen. Like those of us who enjoyed John Facenda on NFL Films, nobody will ever do the role as well as Cullen did.
RIP, Mr. Cullen. You were an inspiration to more people than anyone will know.
