I have been following the videos of Julia James Davis, a Jewish convert to Catholicism recently, and I believe her thesis is correct. One constant aspect of the Left is a war waged against art that prior generations regarded as beautiful in service to contemporary Leftist crusades. It is a way to sever the ties of memory that bind us to our past to aid in the project of the Left to remake the present into their ever receding political utopias. Keep your eye of this young lady and her work.

As Fr. Robert Spitzer often points out, the principal characteristics of God and His Creation are Truth, Love, Goodness, and Beauty. These are always the Enemy’s primary targets. All of the attacks on these characteristics, whether in art, music, architecture, literature, or simply living daily life, are from the Enemy in the first instance.
It’s quite possible that to elevate beauty would be contradictory to relativism. Truth is the second person of the Triune God and an absolute. Distortion of Truth allows this avenue for ugliness to create a false sense of freedom which invites man to become God and places truth as man’s tool to be used for atrocious behavior.

no wonder the enemy hates Beauty.
That’s why we have “fat is beautiful”, purple hair, piercings, tattoos, confused sexuality and any Catholic church built in the 1960s or 70s. The devil hates beauty in both people and inanimate objects because they reflect the glory of God.
I have heard numerous stories of lay faithful who hid Stations of the Cross, ornate communion rails, sacred art, statues and more as they waited for the iconoclasm of the 60s-70s-80s to pass over. The faithful waited for a pastor they could trust and, then, brought out the beauty of past generations.
The picture provided by Davis compares two streets. just look at architecture post WW II. Even the secular public high schools were majestic prior to the 40s and 50s blandish and sterile utilitarianism.
Frank, good points. Fr. Spitzer may be onto something. Perhaps the faithful can reconstitute the “LGBT” acronym into something glorifying God- Love Goodness Beauty Truth. Just a thought…
