Cold Beer and Gettysburg

 

 

The soldiers, Union and Confederate, in that war, usually got along pretty well together outside of the battle field or POW camps.  They shared having “seen the Elephant” (combat), something that created a bond that civilians could not quite comprehend.  Joint Union and Confederate reunions were held as early as the 1880s.

They faced a common enemy, together. Death. That forges permanent bonds.
