YES…..They did this in America.
Non God fearing men and women made laws to legally rip apart, decapitate and dissolve living human babies in their mother’s womb for any reason. They called it reproductive health care.
@ Tori.
Get a life.
Ackshully, everything that exists is only matter, and all of material reality is only particles randomly banging against each other, but I’m going to argue that a certain random configuration of particles is able to apprehend that the information (which presumes more than randomness, but you’re not supposed to be that eliminative since it’s inconvenient to my argument) received from other random configurations of particles corresponds to the actual configuration of those particles, and that this random configuration of particles is therefore able to parse what does and does not correspond to other random configurations of particles even though its determination of these things is likewise entirely predicated on these random particles banging together and becoming configured in different ways, but is still able to make non-material determinations about things that are only material since that is all that exists. And if a random assortment of particles presses me (another random assortment of particles) on how I (that is, only material particles banging together randomly) can make these determinations, I (a random collection of particles banging together in case you forgot, which means your configuration of particles changed to not be configured in the same way towards all other random particles) will appeal to non-material but completely not-magical causes like emergence and the totally-and-ackshully-completely scientific notion of the multiverse which in principle you (a random collection of particles) cannot scientifically (using random particles to somehow look at other random particles) demonstrate (even though everything that exists is only particles banging together) but which only a stupid person (a different collection of random particles that I (see above) don’t like) would deny because science reasons (which is a non-material concept that totally exists because only a stupid collection of randomly configured particles would disagree with what one random configuration of particles somehow perceives about the configuration of other random particles, and by doing so makes them not random, but stop noticing these contradictions, which you only do because of your need for a sky-daddy).
And that’s being somewhat generous to the atheistic worldview.
Sadly, too many people don’t read this whole story in context. The men of Gibeah in the Tribe of Benjamin were sodomites and wanted to rape the Levite man to whom the concubine belonged. This is similar to the story of what happened to Lot and the angels who stayed with him at Sodom in Genesis 19. So the Levite man and the old man in whose house he was staying sent out the concubine to these sodomites (which by the way Lot was going to do with the women in his house before the angels stopped him). Yes, what the Levite did was horrific, resulting in the death of his concubine whom he then cut into 12 pieces – one for each of the 12 tribes of Israel – as an exhortation to punish the Tribe of Benjamin. Apparently, Benjamin (youngest son of Jacob and Rachel, and full brother of Joseph) was very spoiled and carried his spoiledness on to his descendants, hence what happened at Gibeah. Thus, the Tribe of Benjamin was almost wiped out. Indeed, this Tribe took a long time to learn its lesson, for King Saul came from them and what a winner he turned out to be (sarcasm). It wasn’t until Mordecai and Esther in the Persian Empire that the Tribe of Benjamin finally did something right to atone for its sins. Indeed, even Paul when he was Saul – of the Tribe of Benjamin – was a fierce persecuter of the Church and had to have a personal visit with Jesus to straighten up and fly right.
So remember this: how did Benjamin’s atrocities begin? First, by being spoiled rotten, and then by homosexuality. Oh how like the millennial atheist nit wits of today: spoiled rotten brats who who embrace the decadent culture of LGBTQ! Why is the story of Judges 19 through 21 any different from us post modern, neo pagans today? As Donald pointed out, Judges 21: 25 says, “ In those days there was no king in Israel; all the people did what was right in their own eyes.” That’s us, Folks, that’s us! We ought to weep and fall prostrate in begging God to forgive us before we suffer Benjamin’s punishment.
To expand on Philip’s point, here is Andrew Klavan’s thought on future opinions.
“There will come a time when the people who run Planned Parenthood will be viewed as we view slaveholders today.
Today, you hear young people say, “Why should we listen to the people of the past? Why should we admire their accomplishments? They held slaves. They were racists. They conquered other nations. Who cares what books they wrote? What discoveries they made? What governments they created? They owned people. They owned human beings as property. Why should we do anything but despise them?”
In the future, young people will say, “Who cares about 21st century technology? Those people murdered their babies. The very mothers who should have nurtured them had them torn out of their wombs piece by piece, their bodies sold in parts, burned for heat. Why should we admire their computers and phones? Their spaceships to Pluto? The medicines they discovered that we still use today? They killed their children. The very fathers who should have protected them, turned their backs and left them to die. Babies with no voice, no vote, no way to protect themselves. Those people slaughtered them just to insure they could have sex whenever they wanted, with whomever they wanted, without consequence to themselves. For their pleasure and convenience, they murdered millions and millions and millions.”
I sometimes try to explain to young people that the people of the past didn’t have our perspective. They had to fashion the ideas we already have. You can’t see what you can’t see, I tell them. You can’t know what you don’t know. Have pity. Have compassion. Take the good from the past and leave the bad behind.
But the young have no pity. They have no compassion. They feel them, but they don’t have them. That only comes with time. The people of the 18th century saw themselves as the forgers of new ideas and new nations and new ideas for nations. The young take all those things for granted. They see the men and women of the past only as slaveholders and racists and conquerors. Which they also were.
We see ourselves as inventing new machines, new medicines, new art forms, connecting human minds in new ways. The young of the future will take all those things for granted. They’ll see us as the slaughterers of the helpless, the butcherers of the silent, the small, the weak. The cannibals of our own children.
Which we also are.”
Would our aghast atheist still be aghast if this event were anonymized and labeled as an excerpt from a history book? (which the Bible is, by the way)
Of course not.
In that context, or lack of context, she would recognize humanity’s general treatment of itself.
She still wouldn’t be any closer to explaining that evil, but her outrage at the evil is actually an encouraging sign. Especially because (to her) it occurs in a work of fiction.
She had better be careful. The Book of Judges is pretty deep into the Bible. If she keeps reading God’s word, whatever her intentions, the Word of God might just whisper loudly enough to pierce her atheism. And then what will she do?
I will pray for just such a catastrophy.
Since the atheist Madalyn Murray O’Hair had God removed from the public square, all human souls are denied Justice. The immortal. innocent soul of the newly begotten child is the standard of Justice for the nation.
Freedom to destroy our Constitutional Posterity (read the Preamble) is barbaric and uncivilized as well as unconstitutional.
Let us pray.
