Southerners do not make up a majority of the US military, but they have always been over represented in the combat arms. Southerners have always liked a good scrap:
Donald R. McClarey
Cradle Catholic. Active in the pro-life movement since 1973. Father of three, one in Heaven, and happily married for 43 years. Small town lawyer and amateur historian. Former president of the board of directors of the local crisis pregnancy center for a decade.
And we find out how “southern” is defined. Some define it as lower right of US excluding Texas where southerners include it all and more in the middle 😂

Southern includes MA, RI and eastern CT, western CT has been annexed by the evil empire where the Yankees live.

I’ve always enjoyed hearing the true rebel yell. I think Don had found through the Library of Congress vintage footage of a Blues and Grays reunion. The Rebels let it rip.

I was in Marine corps from 1961 to 1965. I would say that the Corps was about evenly split among the North, Midwest West and South. The “lifers” were predominantly from the South and they set the tone as they are the Staff NCOs and NCO’s. Southerners were instrumental in setting Marine Corps culture.
