I remember back when Trump first did the whole “two Corinthians” thing and some people freaked out about it. I don’t think I had yet become Catholic at the time, but I still didn’t get the controversy. I think it’s probably (like many such things) an American evangelical bias, and since that time I’ve heard several non American Christians (both catholic and non catholic) say the same. Granted, probably a minority of usage, but not completely out of left field (lol, yet another Americanism…).
Whenever Mohammedans have had complete sway it’s: “convert, die or pay-us tribute.”
Them’s the rules. Conversion is easy, just one sentence need be said. No one leaves under penalty of death; Sharia is religion and state.
The system (not people) is evil. What gives it away for sure is the hatred of dogs… who hates dogs?

On another topic Oakland (CA) Diocese has announced they are closing 13 churches including 7 in Oakland itself. The East Bay was once very Catholic and active in attendance, but Bishop Michael Barber says that church attendance has dropped precipitously since 2010 as well as school attendance at several elementary schools.
One guesses the “P Francis effect” didn’t materially change the course of matters.
Apropos of nothing, and thus perfect for an open thread, I was just getting ready for work and realized I couldn’t remember where I’d eaten after Mass yesterday, or what the homily had been, then checked my phone and discovered it’s Sunday.
Pinky, I am somewhat relieved to know this doesn’t just happen to me. 😂
Mr. McClarey and Steve, thank you both. Truth is, I often think of myself as not often enough setting a good Catholic example. I am grateful Charlie has stuck with Catechism and has worked on it since he began.
On Saturday, Charlie has his Promise event with the Federation of North American Explorers. The Explorer boys will walk a pilgramnage from our church to Trinity Acres in Carnegie, PA. It’s a hike!
