When it comes to Islam the Pope has rose colored glasses on. Nothing new here. The Vatican has been doing this since at least the end of World War II.
Should the Pope be preaching unremitting hostility to the Muslim world? Not at all. There are Muslim states and there are Muslim states, some that the West can have business like relationships with, but ones ruled by Jihadi lunatics, Iran is a prime example, should be addressed in an air of reality and not an air of unreality, and the Vatican should get out of the business of encouraging the mass immigration of illegal aliens from Islam to the West.
The Vatican could learn much from Trump’s nuanced policy to the Muslim world, but they will not, because unremitting hostility to him is most definitely the Vatican policy. They think that Trump and his followers will soon be only an unpleasant memory for them, and once again the Vatican adopts wishful thinking as a policy. The problems that brought Trump to power remain around the globe and playing games of lets pretend will not alter that very hard fact.
There’s a lot of dependency on the ignorance of ordinary people when the Pope makes statements as the above…
For example not knowing that in Algeria proselytizing Christianity is a capital offense. If that were common knowledge, the ratio on that tweet would be astronomical.

Fulton Sheen described the wonderful response of many Muslims to the pilgrim statue of Our Lady of Fatima, predicting that Mary would be the key to converting the Mohammedans to the True Faith. Of course, Sheen believed in the True Faith and spoke and acted like it.
