Trump is rude, crude and effective. His use of invective often makes me wince, but he has a reason behind it, especially when he is seeming to be quite unreasonable. Besides he has Secretary of State Rubio to work out the details. In a little noted development over the weekend the Cuban government is freeing political prisoners. Everything Trump does is to reach a deal if possible. Understand that, and you go a long way to understanding Trump.

Donald R. McClarey
Cradle Catholic. Active in the pro-life movement since 1973. Father of three, one in Heaven, and happily married for 43 years. Small town lawyer and amateur historian. Former president of the board of directors of the local crisis pregnancy center for a decade.
It’s been called “shake the tree”.
In our media savvy president, it’s called: outrage, inflame TDS, create a media storm, control the news cycle and achieve your goal(s).
Lastly expose the weak minded. As observing something time and time again and not coming to a different conclusion is a sign of weak mindedness (possibly insanity.)
“But he’s MEAN!”, say the people that indicted him on many trumped-up charges, no pun intended, tried to get him kicked off the ballot multiple times, impeached him multiple times, used the power of the government to jail supporters, often without due process, used the virus of Unknown Origin to justify ballot harvesting to strangely find 8 million more voters in 2020 than the elections before and after, and when that didn’t work, tried to shoot him in the head on multiple occasions. There’s nothing he could say, no matter how bombastic and virulent, that even comes close to what they tried to do to him.
I know all the snowflakes, especially those in the fake news media, have never heard the phrase sticks and stones may break my bones… but it might be wise to just sit down and shut up and stop giving him reasons to come up with new names which typically have an element of truth.
To reach a deal requires an opposing party able and willing to negotiate. What’s the name of the authority in Iran who could sign a deal? Aren’t all would-be negotiators dead? That would seem to complicate things just a bit.
New power centers will arise, hopefully more reasonable than the prior ruling mullahs now attempting to govern Hell.
Where can I get this and its translation?
Its on twitter. I haven’t seen an English translation of the statements.
approximately:
Macciavelli – “The desire for victory blinds the minds of men who do not see anything other than that which favors them.”
Richelieu – “Always negotiate, even while you are waging war.”
Franklin – “To the enemy, forgiveness; to the adversary, tolerance.”
Tallyrand – “Above all, not too much zeal.”
Metternich – “The events which cannot be prevented, must be directed.”
Bismark – “Politics is the art of the possible.”
Casaroli – “Diplomacy is the art of patience.”
Trump – “Open up, you bastards.”
Will Rogers: “Diplomacy is the art of saying ‘Nice doggie’ until you can find a rock.”
.
The purpose of diplomacy is clarifying who is willing to accede to what in a given set of circumstances. Its a function of the parties rough calculation of what is likely to happen if other courses of action are taken and what each party’s risk tolerance is. It’s not a substitute for coercive measures. It is undertaken in light of the possibility of coercive measures.
Trump did give Iran plenty of warning (diplomacy) and a date to which demands had to be met.
(once again the drive by media would like us to forget all about that..)
