I think that Iran may have succeeded in enrichment and safe alternate storage of U-235 to weapons grade level (92+%) prior to last year’s bombing of its enrichment facilities, and that Trump had received good intelligence on this and is responding accordingly. Some ground forces (US Marines) and perhaps Special Forces (Navy Seals, Army Rangers?) are being sent to the Persian Gulf, likely (I believe) to recover such weapons grade fissionable fuel. The air compaign was designed to destroy as much of Iranian military capacity as possible prior to the recovery. But remember: I am just speculating.
